With the weather getting warmer, ticks will become much more active. Make sure to have a good pair of fine tipped tweezers on hand to remove ticks from your dog. Per the CDC- always make sure the tweezers are clean. Make sure to grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible. Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Don’t twist or jerk the tick; this can cause the mouth-parts to break off and remain in the skin. If this happens, remove the mouth-parts with tweezers. Don’t forget to protect your pup by talking to the vet about medication and vaccines to help protect them from ticks and tick borne illness!!
