Spring Hollow Farm had a great weekend with SWVADA and BREA!We love our horse family and friends! Zoe had 3 strong tests on Red Apple Ale (Groot), earning blue ribbons and high score award! Zoe and Groot have worked hard on a good foundation, and are so grateful for friends and trainers who have brought them along.
Jasmine and I rode 2 tests, and I was elated to be able to compete 3 months after cervical spinal fusion surgery.

We are looking for a volunteer to run our used tack sale happening at Virginia Tech during educational Sunday on March 20th. This is a great opportunity to get your volunteer hours in for year end awards. These hours can be worked by a spouse/parent as well. You should be available at 8am for setup and have the hours covered through the end of the day. Please contact us if you are interested!

Good advice

I’m not sure when riding stopped being fun for me. It crept up on me. A dread that began on my way to the barn and didn’t ease until the ride was over. At first, I couldn’t put a finger on it. I was just worried and anxious. But eventually my thoughts drifted to the Continued

FMA Contessa, (pictured left) the matriarch of Spring Hollow Farm celebrated her 27th birthday on March 13. She's been with me for 25 years, mothered 3 lovely fillies, taught a lot of kids (including our daughter Zoe) how to ride. A beloved member of our family.

While my amazing mother was succumbing to her fight with cancer, Maj was struggling to breath. This is not a new problem, he has had COPD for the 8 years we have owned him. Symptoms are usually easily managed with bronchodilators and steroids. This exacerbation was worse and harder on our boy, seems to have caused heart failure. He is stable with meds and great ver care. Now time will tell when quality of life for Majnin Ibn Sobarra has reached the point that we need to intervene. His ghostly, magical beautify would do any family proud, he is gentle with children, a blast to ride, and has given us beautiful Arabian progeny. While I pray for more happy hours with Maj, I know that not only will he be sorely missed after he leaves us, but also he has reminded me daily with his presence and gentle soul why Arabians are the breed of horse that my heart seeks out.
