☀️ Summer temperatures in Texas can become dangerous for pets faster than many people realize.

Make sure your pets have access to plenty of fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest. Limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, and always check pavement temperatures before walks, if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

A little extra caution can go a long way in keeping your four-legged family members safe this summer.

You’ve probably seen recent headlines about screwworms. While there is no need to panic, it’s always a good idea to stay informed and take simple precautions to protect your pets.

Screwworm flies are attracted to open wounds, cuts, surgical sites, and irritated skin. The best defense is prevention:

✔ Check your pets regularly for cuts, scrapes, hot spots, or skin irritation.
✔ Keep wounds clean and monitor them closely.
✔ Stay current on flea and fly control products recommended by your veterinarian.
✔ Keep outdoor areas clean and free of excess waste that can attract flies.
✔ Contact your veterinarian promptly if you notice a wound that isn’t healing, unusual drainage, swelling, or increased irritation.

For most pet owners, routine preventative care and regular inspections are the best way to keep pets healthy and protected.

German Shepherd/border collie Mix – 3 Years Old – Looking for the Right Home

We are seeking a loving new home for our 3-year-old Shepherd mix. She is an intelligent, loyal, and affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with her family and loves being part of the household.

Like many herding breeds, she is naturally protective of her home and the people she cares about. She does best with experienced dog owners who understand and appreciate these traits and can provide clear leadership and structure.

She would thrive in a home where she is the only pet, allowing her to receive all the attention and companionship she enjoys. Once she knows and trusts you, she is a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her people.

We would like to find the right match for her and are looking for a home that can provide patience, consistency, and plenty of love. A home with a yard/land would be best. If you think you may be a good fit, we'd love to talk and answer any questions.
