It’s been a busy summer for herding here at Badlands!

Forrest, Marvin, Rory, Trout, Zonko and Sonny have all been enjoying attending lessons across the country! Herding has a huge learning curve for both dog and handler (especially handler when it comes to me lol) and we are excited to see where these lessons take the boys as they mature physically and mentally towards trialing.

I think Marvin will be the first to try trialing in Fall/Winter of 2026 (Perks of living in Arizona 🤣)

I’m so proud of all the owners out there doing the dang thing!

We have our very first Badlands dog to earn an..

✨Obedience HIGH IN TRIAL✨

SOPHIE!!! YOU DID THIS!!!

For those that don’t know, a High in Trial is the obedience equivalent to Best in Show and it’s an incredible honor! To make this even better, they earned it from the NOVICE A class!

If you didn’t know, Journey and Sophie also tied for a High in Trial at the USASA National Specialty back in April but unfortunately didn’t win the run off.

These two are just getting started and I’m already speechless 💙💛

Our little red dog busted her butt to make dreams come true today! I asked so much of her and she never missed a beat.

✨OWNER HANDLED BEST IN SHOW✨

I’ve been in dogs since I was practically in diapers and I’ve never got to hear “and my Best in Show today goes to the Australian Shepherd” and see the judge point at me 🥹

While I still have big goals to do this in the Regular BIS ring.. I won’t discount the deep quality of dogs and handlers in the NOHS ring and I am so thankful to every club that offers it!

Rizz was Bred by and is co-owned with Kelly Holder of Whiterose Australian Shepherds! Congratulations Kelly on another Bred By Champion!

While I also absolutely love this crazy red head, She is my husband’s top ranch hand and best girl.. and he is so excited to get her back out in the field.

We have another ✨NEW AKC CHAMPION✨ at Badlands!!

The very first from our Logan x Nashville cross!

Krece has been such a fun class dog for Janette, winning the 12-15 Puppy Sweepstakes and 12-15 dogs classes at the USASA National back in April and going on to finish his Championship with all majors!!

Janette unfortunately was injured a couple months ago and wasn’t able to owner handle him this last weekend, thank you so much Tanya Sue Tresino for stepping in and handling him to two 5 point majors & a 4 point major all back to back to wrap up his CH!

Congratulations Dave & Janette on your second Badlands CH!!

Krece is just a baby and shows are very seasonal in Alaska, but I think Krece is going to have a very successful run as a special when it’s time!!
