I just wanted to update everyone on how our feline friends have been doing!
Most of our cats have been talking their rest very seriously and have enjoyed the quiet environment these last couple weeks as they recover. We hope to have everyone happy and healthy again in the following weeks, and will continue to update you all!

If you were unaware, we had to make the unfortunate decision to close our doors until further notice. We have been heavily over populated since spring time, and it finally caught up to our cats. We had so much upper respiratory infection running rampant through our pets that we had no choice but to shut down temporarily. In the last couple weeks we have seen a lot of improvement in the cats’ health, and we can only go up from here!

Our main AWL building remains open to the public, but our CAT INTAKE REMAINS CLOSED!

🚨 OUR CAT HOUSE & CAT INTAKE IS CLOSED 🚨

This is heartbreaking for us to share. We are at a point where we MUST close the Cat House and our cat intake to take proper care of the cats we have in our care. We have❗258 cats❗in our care, whether they are in our facility, in our foster homes or are in trial adoptions.

We, like many other shelters and rescues around the state and the COUNTRY, are drowning in animals. We have no emergency kennels open. No isolation kennels are open for sick cats. We have 60 people on our waiting list to bring in one or more cats and we have nowhere to put them.

We are overpopulated and have seen a drastic increase in illness because of it. More cats = more stress = more sickness.

We have been saying "our cat intake is closed" since the beginning of October... We still took in 102 cats last month with only 75 adoptions. We are serious this time. We. Have. No. Space.

You are frustrated. We are frustrated. We are overwhelmed.

We will not be able to help when you are moving tomorrow and need somewhere for your animals to go. We will not have a kennel magically open up when you threaten my staff with illegal ways of disposing your animals if we do not take them. We cannot take in cats. We can't.

✨ 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰? ✨
We are hoping to open the Cat House in about a week, but this may be subject to change.

We are taking in no owner surrenders at this time. We will try and help as soon as we can, but you will put onto that waiting list.

If you find a stray cat, please try to find the owners before contacting us. Knock on doors, post on Facebook, share with friends and family. If no owner is found, please try to hang onto them for a few days. If need be, we can put you into our foster program and provide food and supplies.

How can you help?
👉 SPAY / NEUTER your pets!!! Yes, even the one that showed up at your door that you are feeding. There are low cost options available! Send us a message or call for those!
👉 ADOPT - We will only have a select few cats available at a time. If you are interested in a certain cat or personality that is not on the adoption floor, we will save your info for when one becomes available!
👉 FOSTER - We have a foster program! Call or message for more details!
👉 VOLUNTEER - While most of our cats will be unavailable to the public, we still need help with dishes and laundry!
👉 DONATE - Expenses are at an all time high! Food, medication, vet bills, etc!

OUR ADOPTION FEES ARE STILL REDUCED.
$25 FOR ADULT CATS AND $50 FOR KITTENS
Only certain cats will be available at a time as we are battling illness.

URGENT BARN CAT PLACEMENTS NEEDED!

We desperately need to get 12 adult cats out of the shelter and into safe, appropriate placements… ASAP! These cats CANNOT return to where they were found due to unsafe conditions, and they’re becoming increasingly stressed being stuck indoors. We need to free up cages, and more importantly, give these working cats the life they’re used to - outside with space, fresh air, and a purpose!

We currently have:
• 1 Semi-Feral Cat (not interested in human touch – they just want to do their job)
• 11 Semi-Friendly Cats (tolerate pets on the head, may bond with you over time, but don’t want to be picked up or indoors)

These cats have always lived outside and thrived. They’re not house-cats, and they’re not meant for indoor living. They’re ready to be your natural rodent control team. They just need shelter, daily food & water, and a safe spot to call their own. Ideal for barns, shops, warehouses, or outbuildings.

BONUS:
• Already spayed/neutered
• Fully vaccinated
• Most are Ear-tipped

There is no set adoption fee, but a small donation is greatly appreciated to help us keep this life-saving program going!

We are continuing to take in cats from the community, and every kennel we can free up makes room for another in-need cat. By giving one of these outdoor cats a second chance, you’re helping twice. The cat you’re adopting and the next one that needs our help.

NOW is the perfect time to acclimate them to a new home, the weather is on our side. Let’s get them out of the shelter and back to the life they love!

🚫 The Cat House is Closed Today 🚫

We apologize for the inconvenience, but the Cat House will be closed today due to being short-staffed and other staff-related issues.

Our facility is currently at full capacity, and caring for the cats already in our care is our top priority.

If you’ve ever thought about helping out, now is the time we truly need volunteers. Even a few hours a week makes a difference! 💪🐾
