Over the past few weeks, Piedmont Animal Control has picked up several dogs throughout our community—many of which are clearly well cared for, friendly, and accustomed to being around people just at like this one riding and chilling with the Chief. These aren’t stray animals by nature… they belong to someone.

Allowing dogs to roam freely creates safety concerns for the animal, the public, motorists, and its illegal. It also places an unnecessary burden on Animal Control resources like the police.

We ask all pet owners to take responsibility for properly securing and supervising their animals. Please ensure:
• Dogs are kept in a secure enclosure or under direct control
• Fences and gates are maintained and functioning properly
• Pets have proper identification such as tags or microchips

If you are no longer able to care for your dog, we encourage you to seek responsible rehoming options. Simply allowing a pet to roam is not a safe or acceptable solution and don’t forget it’s illegal.

Our goal is to protect both the community and the animals we serve. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us do that.
