As many of you know, my sweet Delilah was expecting her third litter. Little did we know, that her body was not capable of sustaining this litter.
On Tuesday, a family member went to check on her first thing that morning while we were on vacation.. only to find her in critical condition. She was rushed to the vet and we discovered her glucose had tanked. She was transported to an ER after the vet closed that evening. Everything that could’ve been done to save her life and her 8 puppies’ lives was done, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.
I received a phone call Tuesday night from the ER that her vitals were crashing and she passed away peacefully. I want to thank our local veterinary offices for doing everything possible to save my sweet girl.
It was determined that her body could not handle the pregnancy and the puppies were taking too much from her.
I am absolutely heartbroken, and it’s such a hard thing that breeders go through sometimes.
As a result of this, I have decided to step away from breeding temporarily, and possibly permanently. I cannot physically put myself through the stress and heartbreak, especially while pregnant. I hope to resume this passion that I love in the future. For now, I will be focusing on my growing family.
If you have a puppy from us, have talked to us, or supported our journey, I cannot thank you enough. I truly love this breed and helping families find their forever companion, but I mentally need a break.
We love you guys so much!
With love,
Shaley, Riley, & Myla
