Job Title: Animal Shelter Operations Manager

Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on, compassionate, and highly organized Operations Manager to lead the daily operations of our animal shelter. The ideal candidate will have experience in animal care and shelter management and be skilled at coordinating people, resources, and priorities in a dynamic and emotionally charged environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily operations including animal intake, feeding, cleaning, enrichment, and population management
• Ensure all animals are cared for humanely and according to shelter protocols
• Supervise, train, and schedule animal care staff and volunteers
• Coordinate with veterinary staff to ensure proper care and treatment of shelter animals
• Maintain inventory and order necessary supplies, medications, and equipment
• Ensure shelter cleanliness and safety standards are met
• Maintain records and reports using shelter management software
• Enforce biosecurity protocols and provide staff safety training
• Promote a positive, team-focused work environment
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in animal science, veterinary tech, or related field preferred
• 2–4 years of animal care experience (shelter, clinic, rescue), with at least 1–2 years in a leadership role
• Working knowledge of animal handling, disease control, and shelter regulations
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
• Proficient in shelter software (PetPoint, Shelterluv, Chameleon, etc.) and Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements:
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on your feet for extended periods
• Comfortable in environments with loud noise, strong odors, and emotional situations
• Willing to work weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies as needed
Working Conditions: Indoor/outdoor environment; frequent contact with animals of various temperaments
