PLEASE DO NOT SHOW UP TO OUR PROPERTY UNINVITED*πŸ”΄ Here at GCRR, our mission is for no non-native reptiles to be abandoned, or released into the wild to fend for themselves. We are here as a resource for any and all reptile owners. We accept owner surrenders, rehabilitate the sick/injured, house the unadoptable, and adopt the adoptable to responsible, permanent homes.

Now that their legal hold is complete, we would like to introduce a small group of new intakes to the Refuge.

Early last week, we were contacted by Harrison County Sherrifs AC Dept to assist/ retrieve a few reptiles and 2 fish from a home where sadly, their human had passed on.

Included in this group were:

2 adult Boas
1 Tarantula
1 Koi fish
1 Angel fish

The fish have been safely placed with friends of the rescue. The tarantula has been adopted by a family member, and the two Boas will be joining our adoptables line up upon successful completion of quarantine. I will make a post announcing when that happens.

*Photos were taken upon intake, those are just transport totes*

A big shout-out/thank you to those who have donated thus far towards our tortoise enclosure reconstruction!

We just got back with our first load of lumber and a box of screws, which also included the curbside order Miss Lisa Cooper-Hill called in for us. Thank you so much to you all for getting us off to such a wonderful start on this project! Can't wait to get started!

Friends!

πŸ”΄πŸ”΄We need your helpπŸ”΄πŸ”΄

Our original row of tortoise enclosures is in desperate need of re-constructing. In our infancy before we had any idea how much we would be grow, we constructed our very first original row of tortoise pens out of re-purposed pallets. They have served us very well for 5 years, but are now becoming structurally unsound. We really need to update this tortoise row that is inhabited by our oldest sanctuary residents.

Our operational expenses are significant and we are primarily out of pocket, so larger projects like this are a hard hit for us.

We would be so thankful for any help towards this project.

Our primary need is:

πŸ’šTreated 2x4x10 or 12 and/or
πŸ’šTreated 2x6x10 or 12 boards.

We typically purchase these from Home Depot.

Here are the ways you can help!

*Home Depot e-gift card to [email protected]

*Curbside order to our Picayune Home Depot for us to pick up

*Contribute ANY amount towards the purchase of the lumber via the following ways:

🐒Venmo:
🐒PayPal (takes fees): [email protected]

Donations are tax deductible!

As always, thank you for your support! We could not do what we do without you guys.

We'd like to welcome Dolores to the Refuge.

Dolores arrived to us today via transport from one of the surrounding animal shelters we work with. A domestic animal shelter is of course not equipped to house reptiles/turtles/exotics.

Dolores is a box turtle that was surrendered to the shelter by an owner. She was kept as a pet in captivity, therefore she is not releasable.

As you can see, her shell is terribly malformed. This is due to improper nutrition and/or improper husbandry while being kept in captivity.

We see this FAR too often with these guys. Please, if you are going to make the consious decision to keep an animal captive, do your research and make sure you are providing at least the bare minimum requirements for said animal to have a decent quality of life! If you're not willing to do that, LEAVE THEM BE.

Dolores will be available for adoption to a properly equipped pet home upon completion of a quarantine period , during which I will make sure she is eating well and exhibiting no signs of illness or any sort of issues.

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY to little BP012!

🐍🐍🐍NEW ADOPTABLES ALERT!🐍🐍🐍🐍

This group of ball pythons is joining our adoptables line-up. These guys originated from a surrender situation. We do NOT know the ages on these animals, as we were not provided with such. They have been quarantined and we are now accepting applications.

πŸ‘€ PLEASE READ:

πŸ“As with any animal adopted from us, these guys are intended for pet homes only.
πŸ“We do not verify gender on snakes, as they are intended for pet homes only anyway.
πŸ“Adoption fees apply. We cannot post those fees publicly due to FB rules. Please message the page for that info.
πŸ“Adoptions are conducted in Picayune, MS.
πŸ“If you'd like to apply to adopt, submit our online adoption application (I will post the link in the comments,) and message us with a photo of the actual enclosure that the adopted animal would be living in.
πŸ“Applying does NOT guarantee approval. I screen applications in the order in which they are recieved. We reserve the right to deny an application if we see fit. The best interest of the animal is our #1 concern.

Folks.....for the love of.....

Please. Please STOP sending me AI generated photos as your proof of enclosure pics. πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

I should not have to be making ANOTHER post about this, yet here I am.

I'm not the brightest crayon in the box on a good day, but I do have two functioning eyeballs.

Also, once you have been deceitful with us in any way shape or form, you absolutely will NOT be adopting an animal from us. Ever.

Sheila the Carpet Python is now joining our adoptables line up!

Sheila is said to be female, although we do not confirm genders on snakes as we adopt to pet homes only.

We were advised upon intake that she is 4 years of age. She is on the petite side, at around 3-4 feet. We haven't actually measured her, as she is a VERY active gal. She is a little flighty when handled, and does have a strong feeding response while in her enclosure.

If interested in adopting Sheila, submit our online adoption application (I will link it in the comments below,) and message us with a photo of the actual enclosure you have on hand.

Adoption fee applies. Adoptions take place in Picayune, MS.
