I curled up by your bed last night, my purr a gentle hum,
I watched as you were crying, wishing I could come.
I brushed against your hand, though you couldn't feel my fur,
"It's me," I softly whispered, "I'm still here, my dear."
I followed you to the kitchen, where you poured your tea,
Remembering how I'd meow to ask, "Is there any for me?"
I watched you by the window, lost in thought and care,
If only I could nuzzle close to show I'm always there.
At the garden in the sunlight, you knelt down by my place,
Tending to my resting spot with such love and grace.
But I'm not really lying there, not under earth or stone,
I'm perched upon your shoulder, so you’re never quite alone.
I padded alongside you as you walked back home again,
Softly brushing past your legs to ease your silent pain.
You sighed and sank into a chair, so weary and so blue,
I leaped up on the armrest, purring just for you.
I am with you every day, in morning light and dusk,
In the softest warmth of sunbeams, in shadows faint and hushed.
And when you sit there quietly, a smile lights your face
You know that in those moments, I'm right there in my place.
When evening falls, I’m watching as you drift into sleep,
To curl up in your dreams again, in slumber soft and deep.
And when it's time for you to cross, I’ll wait with eager eyes,
I'll wind around your legs once more, where love never dies.
We’ll stroll together, side by side, through fields of endless green,
With paw prints left in stardust, in places yet unseen.
So live your journey fully, and keep me in your heart
I’m just a whisker’s breadth away, though we’re a world apart.
Cats are family ❤
