PSA: As beautiful and unique as she may be, these Crested Porcupines make for horrible pets. We’ve had Henrietta for a few months now. She’s escaped from the yard 4 times, we have found her almost a mile away. She can chew or dig through just about anything. She destroyed our wooden backdoor, chewed through the metal in her pen. She stinks like you would not believe and does not care for affection or people. The third largest rodent should not be kept in a home. We’re in the process of Donating her to Out of Africa, just outside of my hometown Cottonwood. Hopefully their resources will be able to sustain/contain her. Just some advice to you fine people, enjoy your critters!

Mel and I highly recommend the Gel Diets from . It’s just like jello, but far greater nutrient density! Vitamins and minerals hidden in a sweet sticky treat? Brilliant! I also put some dry monkey chow in the gel.

In the wild Green Anacondas eat the Capybara, the largest member of the cavidae family. Since guinea pigs are members of that family, they are often accepted by this picky snake. Next step is getting him to take rats/rabbits. Big snakes eat big.
