Meet ✨Journey✨ — one of Desert Rose Animal Hospital’s very first patients.
Journey was adopted from MCACC’s e-list after being diagnosed with Valley Fever and experiencing neurological issues. At the time, her future was uncertain… but her story is a beautiful reminder of what love, commitment, and medical care can do. ❤️
Today, Journey is THRIVING. She’s gained weight, her Valley Fever titers are improving, and she’s enjoying life more every day. With medications, routine monitoring, and a dedicated family by her side, she’s truly living her best life. 🐾
Valley Fever (also called coccidioidomycosis) is a fungal infection caused by spores found in Arizona desert soil. Dogs can become infected by breathing in dust containing the spores. Symptoms can range from coughing and lethargy to limping, weight loss, and in some cases, neurological signs if the infection spreads. While it can be serious, many pets can do very well with early diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.
Journey’s story is proof that a diagnosis is not always the end of the story. Sometimes it’s just the beginning of a new chapter. 💛
