I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Sure, I had many answers over the years when I was asked. “A veterinarian, a grade school teacher, a chef....” but nothing seemed to fit. Ultimately, I went to Northern Arizona University and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Performance. My answer to the question was never that I wanted to be a famous actor in Hollywood or anything like that. I just fit in so beautifully with this wonderful tribe of weirdos that I felt like I was home. So of course the most logical thing any 19 year old would do is get a degree as a professional actor, right?

I have never regret that decision. It has lead me down a wonderful path and I have had some amazing experiences...I also have some pretty great stories. One thing it did lead me to realize was that I loved marketing myself as an actor (and I was pretty good at it too.) Over the years I had my own business selling jewelry for Premier Designs. I loved the jewelry and my customers, but I truly loved the marketing aspect of the whole thing. When I was faced with a lay off from the student loan industry I decided to go back to school and get a Graduate Certificate from the University of Phoenix with an emphasis in Marketing.

It took a little while to figure out which area of marketing I wanted to do and which I would thrive in. I have always loved social media (I feel I was one of the first people around with a Facebook account, lol.) After receiving my degree I decided this was my calling and I started learning about all things social media through Michael Stelzner’s Social Media Examiner, online newsletters and articles, and general people in the know. I continue to learn and grow everyday. I don’t know everything but I am the first to tell you what I don’t know. And in my world when I don’t know something, the second step is to always do everything within my power to rectify that situation.

Recently I have brought into play my love of photography and applied it to my work. I take photos and videos of food and chefs in action on a regular basis as content for social media. It has become quite an obsession lately as I find it is scratching that creative itch that I once filled with acting.
