Each one here brought their own lesson plans and style of delivery to the table. 😝🤣🫣

I’ve always said that the horses are the teachers. I just facilitate the process.

Once in a while, a student will do something in the arena that knocks my socks off and impresses the bejeebers out of me. (My criteria for earning a certificate) 😉
Each time this happens it makes my day.

This past week I had a group of 3.
These 3 kids have been struggling to gain some control steering and to keep a trot for more than a few seconds.

On Wed I was ready to play referee once again.
Once they got moving I decided to offer up a certificate to anyone who could trot 5 minutes straight without breaking to a walk or stopping.

Welp, I gave out 3 certificates on Wed. (The kids continued trotting after their 5 minutes!)
I had a productive group all working together.

Triple good day for me, and we had some very proud riders,
👊🏽 ready for next weeks challenge. 💗🦄💗

A small amount of incentive can work wonders!!

Still work, but from a different point of view.

JFSH Stable Management Workshop #2

Another 6 hours of team work and experience in equine management skills.

Students and staff learned and practiced:

Various restraints
Pulling manes
banding
leg wraps,
clipping,
safe turn out procedures

Ran out of time… I think I see another Stable Management #2 in the future!

JFSH Stable Management Workshop
Our first two days are a wrap!

Students and staff participated in 6 hours of hands on equine education in:

•Horse conformation-
•Points of good conformation and common defects
•Taking TPR (temp, pulse, respiration) and establishing a baseline
•Use of a stethoscope
•Intramuscular injections (no grapefruits were harmed during practice)
•Pinch test and capillary refill
•Horse vision
•Types bits and their actions
•Parts of the saddle and bridle
•Proper care and cleaning of tack. Fitting bridles.
•How to check tack for safety and when to send for repairs.

•Longing and turn outs
