We have started our specialty seeds indoors for the fall season! Here we have a baby fennel forest! We have some great growers that we work with for seedlings, but many of our specialty seedlings we grow for our clients. This fennel, conical space saving cabbages, Romanesco cauliflower… the joy of seeing the seeds pop never gets old.

This week we took Farmyard north to “the middle of nowhere” in AZ for a longtime beloved client to get her garden planted and off to a great start. We tilled the soil, added our Farmyard compost, and then planted loads of heirloom tomatoes in all colors, sweet yellow onions, squashes, peppers of her choosing, eggplant, green beans, arugula, lettuce, sweet corn, sweet potatoes, lots of herbs, beautiful zinnias for cutting in all colors and started her a big ol strawberry patch. The air was clean, it was so quiet you could hear the wind, and the sky was such a gorgeous shade of blue. The time flew but it renewed a little piece of my heart to be there and be able to help bring such a unique and beautiful garden space to life. We love what we do!

Soon to be tomato time! Our clients are seeing their tomato dreams coming to life on our plants. We have a terrific grower that we use for the bulk of our plants that are more “mainstream” like Red Cherry, Yellow Pear, etc. Then for the specialty varieties like Purple Bumblebee, Brown Sugar, and San Marzano Redorta - we take those into our own hands and start them ourselves. Can’t wait to get these beautiful babies on a sammich!
