June is National Microchipping Month 🐾

A microchip is one of the simplest ways to help protect your pet if they ever get lost. Collars and tags can fall off, but a microchip stays with your pet for life and can be scanned by shelters or veterinary clinics to help bring them home faster.

If your pet is not microchipped yet, now is a great time to schedule an appointment or ask about available community microchip events.

May 28 is National Heat Awareness Day, and in Arizona heat can become dangerous fast for pets.

Hot pavement can cause painful paw burns in minutes, even if it does not feel extreme outside. Signs can include limping, licking feet, or damaged paw pads, but dogs do not always show pain clearly.

Avoid hot surfaces when possible and stick to cooler times of day.

If you suspect burned paws or injury, take your pet to a vet urgently.

Most urgent care visits we see are not dramatic, rare emergencies. They are everyday situations that become urgent because they happen quickly or do not improve at home.

From GI upset and foreign body ingestion to ear infections, allergies, and minor injuries, these are some of the most common reasons pets are seen after hours.

If your pet is acting off, it is always okay to have them checked sooner rather than later. When in doubt, getting them seen can make all the difference.

May 20th is National Rescue Dog Day.

Bringing a rescue dog home is not always an instant success story. It can come with uncertainty, slow progress, and moments that feel easier than others. But what many people do not see is that every small step forward matters more than it seems in the moment.

Rescue dogs are not starting from the same place, and healing takes time. With patience, consistency, and compassion, they learn what it feels like to be safe, and that is where real change begins. The bond that forms through that process is something truly special. It is built slowly, but it lasts.

If you have ever adopted a rescue, or are thinking about it, we see you.

We get it, the scoot can be funny. But it is actually one of the most common ways dogs show discomfort.

A**l glands are the biggest cause, but allergies, parasites, and skin irritation can all play a role. If it is happening more than once in a while, it is worth getting checked.

The earlier we address it, the easier it is to treat and the more comfortable your dog will be.

Ear infections are one of the most common things we see, and they often start with subtle changes that are easy to miss at home.

Taking a few seconds to check your pet’s ears can help you catch irritation or infection before it becomes painful or more serious.

If something seems off, it is always better to have it checked sooner rather than later!

Save this as a reminder for weekly ear checks
And send it to a pet owner who needs this reminder

Save this for later, just in case.

May 8 is National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day.

Most pet parents assume they would be ready to leave with their pet in an emergency, but when you actually try to gather everything in a few minutes, it is not as easy as it sounds.

Having a simple plan and a few essentials ready ahead of time can make a huge difference when every minute counts. Your pet depends on you to be prepared before something happens, not during it.

This quick checklist is a good place to start if you have never put together an emergency kit.

Save this so you can come back to it and make sure you are ready.
