When you get a call from a previous coworker asking what to do with a baby rattler… my reply? BRING IT TO ME!!! 🐍
Dealing with these little guys (or big ones) isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. Most of the time, they’re just as afraid of us as we are of them.
What many people don’t realize is that rattlesnakes are actually more prey than predators. That rattle that makes your heart jump? To coyotes, javelina, hawks, and other predators, it’s basically a dinner bell.
🌵 Fun Rattlesnake Facts:
- Baby rattlesnakes are born live, not hatched from eggs.
- Contrary to popular belief, babies aren’t “more venomous” than adults—they just haven’t learned to control their venom as well.
- Why not "just kill them"?! --> Rattlesnakes play an important role in keeping rodent populations under control.
- Their iconic rattle is made of keratin (just like your fingernails!).
Respect them, don’t fear them—and if you find one where it doesn’t belong, you know who to call. 😉
