Thankful Thursday! The saying it takes a village is 💯 more real when you are a small non profit, ran entirely on volunteers and rely on donations. Today we want to thank for their support and donations of flea/tick meds, as well as leashes.
We will continue to highlight those who help us help others.

Hablemos de vacunas en 🐱
💉Rabia- 1era dosis a los 3 meses de edad o mas y refuerzo al año y 1-3 años dependiendo del producto y leyes.
💉FVRCP- la otra vacuna esencial (core). Protege en contra de infecciones respiratorias y panleucopenia- un virus que muchas veces es letal.
💉Virus de leucemia (FeLV) y inmunodeficiencia felina (FIV)- ambos afectan al sistema immune. El de leucemia causando cáncer en la sangre y el de inmunodeficiencia suprime las defensas y son propensos a infecciones. Actualmente solo hay vacuna para el de leucemia.
Y... hay que hablar de que aunque raro algunos gatos pueden desarrollar sarcoma por inyecciones. Es por esto que se recomienda vacunar en la parte distal (más alejada de la patita del cuerpo)

Let's talk cat vaccines 🐱
💉Rabies- first dose at three months of age or older, a booster yearly, and then 1-3 years after depending on product and laws.
💉FVRCP- the other core vaccine. Protects against respiratory diseases and panleukopenia- an often fatal virus.
💉 Feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. Both can affect cat's immune system. Leukemia virus can cause cancer in the blood. And the immunodeficiency virus can suppress their immune system; making them more prone to infections. We currently only have a vaccine for leukemia.
And we have to talk about that rare but some cats can develop injection sites sarcoma. This is why we recommend vaccinate on the most distal part of the leg.

Before volunteer week is over, we HAVE to highlight our backbone in everything we do at Lisa. She is the CEO, organizer, goodie distributor and overall amazing human.
A yr ago a random vet slided into her DMs to ask if she could tag along to add veterinary care to her already amazing pet care events and without hesitation she said yes! Its me. I was the random vet and I am SO glad she agreed🩷 you'll find her stocking supplies at the human shelters we service, or driving and picking up donations or the 1018381838 other things she does.
If you see her around make sure to thank her for all she does!

🍄Es un tipo de hongo microscópico que se encuentra en la tierra. Cuando se disturba el terreno sale al aire, se esparce y es inhalado.
✅️Signos- lo que le da la gana- tos + agrandamiento de nódulos linfáticos, fiebre, convulsiones, heridas que no sanan etc...
🧫 Diagnóstico- rara vez cultivo, mas común títulos de anticuerpos
💊Tratamiento- antifungales como fluconazole

🍄Is a microscopic fungus found in the soil. When the dirt is disturbed it goes airborne, it spreads and is inhaled.
✅️Signs- WTH it wants- cough + lymph node enlargement, fever, seizures, non healing wounds etc...
🧫Diagnosis- rarely culture, most commonly antibody titers
💊Treatment- antifungals like fluconazole
