I get asked all the time why MY dogs are as expensive as they are so I figured I’d do a little breakdown of costs associated with breeding RESPONSIBLY.

Price of female (approx 8-10k CAD)
Orthopedic foundation of Animal testing (spine, hips, heart, patella’s, elbows) - $500 CAD
Stud or semen (10k CAD or up to 3k CAD for semen)

Costs associated with breeding a female:
Pg and reverse pg - $400 CAD (on the low end) - this tests how long until the female is ready to be bred and when she’s going into labour)
TCI (if applicable) - $500 CAD -insemination at the vet
Csection/ultrasound/xray - $1500 CAD

Food for mom - double her regular amount - approx $100 CAD/week
Food for weaning pups until 8 weeks - approx $500CAD
Puppy packs - $150/puppy
Check up/vax/microchip - approx $200/puppy

First two weeks of life they are nursing every 2 hours so I have to take off time from my 9-5 job - approx $1000CAD/week

Essentials for whelping:
Incubator - $2500
Oxygen - $250
Heating pads/ $200
Bassinet- $200
Supplements (calcium, colostrum, puppy formula) $100

I also offer 24/7 365 support for all clients. This is something most breeders DO NOT offer, but there will be a time that you wish you had spent a little more upfront, then getting a cheap puppy with no support. I can guarantee that!
