This sweet boy coco was kicked out of a boarding facility in Scottsdale because he stood up for himself from a bullying dog. I’m still in shock that that they locked him in an empty room for 2 days before letting the owner know what happened. Owner was hysterical and in another country so there’s not much she could do. She needed help fast and although I can’t help every dog or pet parent all the time, I always ask the appropriate questions and go from there. Coco has no signs or history of aggression at all and I was sent videos of him just being a friendly dog with his buddies so I agreed to pick him up.

Upon arrival i approached a beautiful facility, it looked like a 5 star doggy resort with waterfalls and pools, splash pads and playgrounds. It was amazing.! As im peeking through the window i realized how there’s about 25-30 dogs in there and I didn’t see one human supervising. That’s when a German shepherd was getting bullied by 2 other larger dogs. I was thinking it was a matter of time before he snapped and defends himself. As I walk into the actual facility I notice that the employees are young and unorganized because they kept calling coco a “she” and he’s clearly a male. I remember thinking “how could you not know if hes a boy or girl? He was there for 9 days” and nobody took the time to even realize his gender. That’s strange.

While handing me over his belongings, I realize his meds are all unorganized because they had taken out and put in a pill organizer and now the girl didn’t know what pill belongs in what bottle. After that 20 min fiasco I get home go through the list of his belongings and realize they didn’t even give him his meds on the right scheduled days nor did they give back all his meds.

It’s just sickening that these places will charge 75$ a night and be totally fine locking your dog in an empty room without letting owner know he was involved in a scuffle. Let alone won’t be given meds properly or even take the time to learn the dogs personality or gender.

Now after being with coco for 3 days and seeing he doesn’t have an ounce of aggression in his body but does know how to depend himself makes me happy. And I’m soo glad I was able to help get him out of there.
After reading reviews from that horror place I later learned they use tasers on the dogs to break up a dog fight and we have no clue if poor coco was tazed by these people before being locked in a cell for 2 days with no toys because “toys are not allowed”

Public Service Announcement 🐾
As a mom and dog lover, the safety, comfort, and well-being of every person and pup under this roof is our top priority.
For this reason, we do not accept dogs with severe anxiety. This decision is not made lightly—it’s based on experience, compassion, and understanding canine behavior.
Dogs with high anxiety often experience extreme stress when separated from their owners and placed in a new environment with unfamiliar people. This can lead to, Panic and distress, Refusal to eat or rest, Excessive barking or self-soothing behaviors, and Increased risk of illness or injury.
In some cases, this level of stress is simply too overwhelming—for both the dog and the owner.
While anxiety can come from many factors, it is often influenced by a dog’s environment, routine, and level of socialization. Dogs that are gradually exposed to new people, places, and experiences tend to develop confidence and independence. On the other hand, dogs that have limited exposure or rely heavily on constant reassurance may struggle more in unfamiliar settings.
If your dog experiences severe anxiety, the best place for them is often with you or in a familiar environment. Keeping them with a trusted person they already know can significantly reduce stress and support their emotional well-being.
We strongly encourage early socialization, structured routines, and confidence-building for all dogs. A well-adjusted, independent dog is not only easier to care for—it is also happier, healthier, and more resilient.
Dogs are loving companions—but they are also animals that thrive on structure, exposure, and balanced guidance.
Thank you for understanding and for helping us create a safe, calm, and positive environment for every dog in our care. 🐶💛
