I missed small businesses Saturday yesterday but here’s my spiel. I personally will always and gladly support small businesses.
Whether it’s someone’s full time job or aside gig, there’s so much that goes into it. It’s not just about making the product, it’s also figuring out the market, using whatever creative juices left to plan new things, preparing shipments and post office runs, shopping and managing inventory, posting on social and building & maintaining a website. And all the details in between.
If you’re reading this, you likely already do buy from small businesses, so I won’t tell you to consider “buying small”. instead I’ll say THANK YOU. Please continue to. Encourage others too as well. Yes you’ll likely pay higher prices and no you won’t get 2 day shipping. But I will tell you, it is worth it!! You will receive something of far greater value. Something with put into it, most often times hand-made. Also, you’re supporting not just a business but a person’s dream.
At Tails Gone Wild, I don’t just make bandanas and collars with fabrics and materials but with love. Okay that sounds sooo corny, but it’s so true. When you place an order, I think about each person and dog/cat that will receive the item and the excitement that comes with opening the package and all the memories that will be made with the gear.
I’ve thought multiple times about closing shop, only because I’ll be honest, there’s not a lot of profit to be made when you take everything into consideration. But why do I stay open? You. The dogs. The relationships I made through TGW. That’s what it really comes down too.
TLTR: please know that it means the world to me and other shop owners when you decide to support us. This is also where everyone else says to drop your fav small businesses in the comments. You can if you want. But I’ll ask instead to continue to support them, share/re-post their posts too and I challenge you to buy from just one new small business before the year is over (if financially you can). Then put in the comments who it was. Look forward to seeing who you choose!💚
