Kellnors Arches Misadventure at MarloWIn 11/20/2013 - 06/08/2024.

Addison was one of a kind and the foundation of my Miniature American Shepherd program.

Addison was born in Corvalis, WA and the "misadventure" part of her name came from the fun of getting her here. Too cold to fly cargo (hate that anyway) and no available pet nanny's led to a friend and his wife going out for Valentine's day to pick her up. They flew into Portland in one of the biggest snowstorms that area had seen, no snow equipment, well you get the drift. This was when the Fifty Shades of Gray books were huge and Addison's first night away from home was at hotel made famous by those books and movies "The Heathman". I wish I could find her picture from the plane. My friend was like "did you know she was this big".... She finally arrived and what a ball of fun. Addison loved laps and snuggling. Addison loved water. The pool and koi ponds were her go to spots. Swim a lap and jump in your lap, she didn't realize she wasn't a puppy anymore. Or lounge on a float, as long as she was in water she was happy. She had a heart of gold and a wonderful disposition that she passed along to her puppies.

Addison produced three AKC Champions with three different sires and has produced wonderful healthy pups in each litter.

We met Billy Huntington at our first AKC show in Owensboro, Ky. He was kind to a new handler and that started a friendship.

Addison's first litter produced Sissy. I reached out to Billy and we entered her in Owensboro. First time in the ring she takes a 5 point major.

Fast forward a few years and I bred another litter and got Blondie Sue and Shylah. Both Blondie Sue and Shylah showed in ASDR. We entered Blondie Sue in Lebanon TN. I waited until she was around a year to send her out. Billy takes her in the ring and gets a 5 point major. Actually two 5 point majors that weekend.

Last fall I decided to breed Addison for one last litter. I wanted a girl, but of course fate had other plans. The litter produced one girl and three boys right before Nationals last year. We lost the girl but the three boys thrived. Chase was my pick from day one and as I watched the three mature it became a harder decision. Each of them had something I liked and I honestly thought about keeping all three. Then reason kicked in or maybe it was my "husband"....

Unfortunately a mass was discovered while Addison was pregnant. Once she weaned the pups and a biopsy was able to be performed she was diagnosed with colerectal adenocarcinoma. We discussed several options with our vet, but the advanced stage and her age were not in her favor. We were told to expect three to six months and other than her weight loss you would not have known she was sick. The Friday before Nationals began I came home and let the girls out while I mowed grass and I just knew. Literally overnight the change was staggering. We spent the evening on the deck, she got to swim in the pool. While I am confident that it was time, I made the decision that no one wants to make the next morning.

I feel that she was watching as her not so little "mini me" Chase showed his heart out. Pending AKC approval, our newest AKC Champion and my baby boy.

Entries are open for the ASDR Bourbon Trail Barkdown which will be held April 19 - 21, 2024. We will have conformation on Satuday, April 20th and Rally on Sunday April 21st. This is open to all ASDR registered dogs.

Show will be held at Philpot, Ky.

This is the first of two shows that will be held in Philpot this year.
