Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon (SDRO) Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to rescue senior dogs aged 7 and older. We do not have a shelter.

We are a volunteer-driven, donor-funded organization. All dogs are fostered.

🐾 We're Hiring: Executive Director (Remote – Oregon Based) 🐾

Are you passionate about senior dogs and ready to lead a mission that truly matters?

Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon (SDRO) is looking for a compassionate, driven, and organized Executive Director to lead our grassroots nonprofit. This is our only paid position—everyone else on the team is a dedicated volunteer, united by a love for senior dogs and the people who care for them.

✨ What You’ll Do:
Lead operations, support our incredible volunteers, and help shape the future of senior dog rescue in Oregon. This is a remote role with regular in-person meetings/events in Corvallis, Albany, and Eugene.

📍 Location Requirement: Must reside in Oregon (Linn/Benton County preferred).

🎆 Fireworks & Furry Friends: Keep Pets Safe This 4th of July 🇺🇸

While we humans may enjoy the festivities, fireworks can be terrifying for our four-legged companions—especially seniors who may be extra sensitive to loud sounds and stress.

Here are a few tips from SDRO to keep your pets calm and safe this holiday:

🛑 Keep pets indoors – even if they're usually fine outside
🔒 Secure doors, windows, and gates – scared dogs can become escape artists
🎶 Play calming music or white noise to help muffle the sound
🛏️ Create a safe, cozy space where your dog can retreat
🦴 Offer treats, toys, or chews for distraction
🐕‍🦺 Talk to your vet if your dog has severe anxiety – medication may help

Hi there, I’m Benji — a 15-year-old miniature poodle with a heart full of love and a sweet little 13-pound frame, perfect for cozy couch cuddles. 🐶🛋️

After a lifetime of companionship with my mom in our quiet apartment, life has shifted — she’s now in memory care, and I’m on the lookout for a new lap to call home. 💔 But I’m ready to start this next chapter with someone kind and calm, just like me.

Hi, I’m Sadie—a gentle 90-pound soul with soft eyes, a big heart, and a story that’s ready for its happy ending.

Not long ago, I had a family I loved deeply. I grew up with kids (ages 8–18), always the calm, cuddly presence in the room. But when my person had to flee a domestic violence situation, we lived together in a car until things became too hard. In June 2024, she made the most selfless decision—to surrender me so I could have a chance at a better life.

Since then, I’ve been with Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon, waiting for someone to see me. For a while I had an amazing foster home, but after nearly a year with no adoption interest, I’ve had to move into a kennel. It’s safe, but it’s not a home. I miss the comfort of a couch, the presence of people, and a lap to rest my head on.

Here’s what you should know about me:
🐾 I’m house-trained and know my commands like “sit” and “lay”
🐾 I adore people—of all ages
🐾 I love cuddles, splashing in kiddie pools, and quiet company
🐾 I’d thrive in a calm home where I’m your only pet

I might bark when you walk in—but that’s just my way of saying “I see you!” Once you pet me, I melt into you.

Hi, I’m Lexi—a 7-year-old, 85-pound German Shepherd with papers, a big heart, and lots of love to give. I’m spayed, healthy, and current on heartworm prevention. I walk great on leash, know my commands, and love hanging out near my people—especially while you work or relax at home.

I’m affectionate, loyal, and smart, but I’ll be honest—I’ve got a few quirks! I can’t resist a countertop snack, I need durable chew toys, and I may have an accident if I’m not let out in time. Most importantly, I need to be your one and only dog. I’ve had some issues with another dog in my current home and do best as the solo queen of the castle.

⚠️🐾 Meet Charlie: Your New Sassy Snuggle Buddy! 🐾⚠️

Hi friends! I’m Charlie, a 12-year-old Chihuahua/Pug mix weighing in at a mighty 15 pounds of personality, charm, and cuddle power! Don’t let the gray muzzle fool you—I’ve still got plenty of pep in my step, love in my heart, and squeaky toys to conquer. 🎾💛

I’m crate trained, leash trained, house polite, and very proud of my sunshine patrol duties in the backyard. I might be a senior, but I’ve got the spirit of a much younger pup when it comes to walks, playtime, and snack o’clock. Did someone say treats? I never miss a snack opportunity. 😋

Now, a little honesty: I’ve had some rough experiences in my past, especially with face-close encounters (kids, I’m looking at you 👀), so I prefer my personal bubble respected. But once I know I’m safe, I’ll snuggle right up next to you for hours.

I’ve lived with dogs before, but I’d really love to be your one and only sidekick—I mean, why share the treats and attention, right?

⚠️🐾 Meet Daisy & Coco – A Bonded Pair of Senior Sisters 🐾⚠️

Say hello to Daisy (15 years old, 10 lbs) and Coco (11 years old)—two inseparable sisters who have spent their entire lives together and are now searching for a warm, loving home where they can stay side by side. 💕

These sweet girls recently lost their beloved dad, and while their hearts are healing, they’re ready to give all their love to a new family. They’ve got years of cuddles, quiet companionship, and gentle joy to share.

🐶 Daisy is the outgoing one—friendly, social, and always excited to be around people. She’s happy to go outside for potty breaks or use a p*e pad, and she’s totally chill about her daily eye drops. She’s on a renal diet but doesn’t let that slow her down!

🐶 Coco is a bit more reserved at first, but once she feels safe, she becomes a loyal little shadow who sticks close and loves to cuddle. Daisy gives her the confidence she needs, and together, they make the perfect pair.

🛏 Both girls love sleeping on the bed with their humans and are used to someone being home most of the day. They’re low-maintenance, house-trained, and full of affection.

💊 Daisy needs daily Optixcare eye drops and renal food
🚶‍♀️ Both are potty-trained (p*e pads or outside)
🐾 Must be adopted together—they’re truly inseparable

Looking for a way to make a difference? We need YOU!

SDRO is searching for a special foster home for BJ, an active 12-year-old, 52-pound, Red Heeler/Corgi mix. BJ needs a foster with no other animals in the house and a fenced yard. He loves toys and playing ball and he hardly sheds at all.

BJ lived his whole life with his male owner who recently died and he is waiting for his forever family. If you’re able to open your home and heart to this sweet boy as a foster, we’d love to chat!

🐾 Soft eyes, big heart – meet senior Whippet Mix, Carter! 🐾

Carter is a 9-year-old Whippet mix with a gentle soul and a love for walks, cozy naps, and quiet companionship. At 44 pounds, he’s the perfect size for snuggles—and , he’s still got great mobility! Stairs, car rides, and adventures? No problem for this guy!

Carter is friendly with other dogs he's met, but so far has been an only dog. He’d thrive in a calm home without cats or young kids, where he can settle in at his own pace.
