It’s with a heavy heart that I’m announcing the closure of Amelie’s Bark Shop’s East Passyunk store.
So many factors went into this decision and it felt like an impossible one. Of course there’s the difficult economic climate as traditional brick and mortar small businesses everywhere are suffering due to growing costs, impending tariffs, increasing rent, and so much more. But with Amelie’s passing this year I just don’t have it in me to keep the shop going. I of course knew the day would come where she’s wasn’t here with me, but the weight of her being gone is just taking a toll on me. She wasn’t just the face, but the heart and soul of the shop.
I do hope to continue the mobile Volkswagen bark bus eventually. So you’ll hopefully see us popping up at events selling the handmade items that we started this business with. I just need some time to recoup and decide what this business will look like.
So please come in to shop with us and say goodbye and give our staff a warm thank you before we close our doors on August 9th. All merchandise in the store will be on deep discount. We’ll also be selling our fixtures and equipment, so if you’re interested in reserving something please let us know.
I can’t thank you all enough for supporting Amelie’s Bark Shop over the last 10+ years. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been able to meet so many wonderful humans, dogs, and cats and I’m forever changed because of this experience. This dream started as a small idea and I never imagined that it would bring me to where I’m today.
This isn’t a forever goodbye of course! I live on the ave and my husband is opening his pizza shop at the fountain Out and is thankfully doing well, so I’ll still get to see you all out and about.
