Thank you for all of the love. It’s been an emotional rollercoaster wrapping up operations these last few weeks. The support you’ve all shown us has been so lovely and we’re going to miss seeing your faces every day.

It’s with a heavy heart that I’m announcing the closure of Amelie’s Bark Shop’s East Passyunk store.

So many factors went into this decision and it felt like an impossible one. Of course there’s the difficult economic climate as traditional brick and mortar small businesses everywhere are suffering due to growing costs, impending tariffs, increasing rent, and so much more. But with Amelie’s passing this year I just don’t have it in me to keep the shop going. I of course knew the day would come where she’s wasn’t here with me, but the weight of her being gone is just taking a toll on me. She wasn’t just the face, but the heart and soul of the shop.

I do hope to continue the mobile Volkswagen bark bus eventually. So you’ll hopefully see us popping up at events selling the handmade items that we started this business with. I just need some time to recoup and decide what this business will look like.

So please come in to shop with us and say goodbye and give our staff a warm thank you before we close our doors on August 9th. All merchandise in the store will be on deep discount. We’ll also be selling our fixtures and equipment, so if you’re interested in reserving something please let us know.

I can’t thank you all enough for supporting Amelie’s Bark Shop over the last 10+ years. I’ve been incredibly lucky to have been able to meet so many wonderful humans, dogs, and cats and I’m forever changed because of this experience. This dream started as a small idea and I never imagined that it would bring me to where I’m today.

This isn’t a forever goodbye of course! I live on the ave and my husband is opening his pizza shop at the fountain Out and is thankfully doing well, so I’ll still get to see you all out and about.

🎂Cake Orders Are Paused🎂

Due to the passing of our beloved Amelie, our owner and cake decorator will be taking some much needed time away to grieve.

Cake listings have been removed from the site so all cake pages will appear blank until they are available again. We are unsure exactly when cake orders will open back up as grief is an ever evolving thing, but feel free to check back regularly!

We will still be offering our cupcakes, rice cakes, and other birthday themed crunchy treats daily for your pets to enjoy in the meantime.

Any current cake orders will be fulfilled as scheduled.

We appreciate your continued support and understanding during this very difficult time.

For a couple of months shy of 18 years, Amelie and I were a package deal. Wherever I went, she went trotting right beside me. My other half. My soul dog. My life.

To know Amelie is to know what true joy, love, and happiness is. She touched so many people’s lives in her time on this planet and she made every single one of those people better for having known her.

Her soft curly ears, her funny shih-tzu teeth. Her intuitive emotions, her adorable koos. Her sleepy sunshine naps, her wild zoomies. I’ll miss it all every single day for the rest of my life.

I want to always remember how absolutely amazing Amelie was. So please, comment below sharing your favorite things about her or a fond memory so we can all remember her as she was…The Perfect Passyunk Princess.

We can hardly believe it…Amelie’s Bark Shop turns 10 this Saturday! 10 years ago we opened our doors and didn’t really know what to expect. Little did we know that we’d meet tens of thousands of pawesome pups, their wonderful humans, and some cute cats on leashes too!
