I see the question asked numerous times on why Yorkies aren't cheap. I was asked what's the difference between one that is $500 and one that is $3k.
So I've taken the liberty to highlight some of the products we breeders use with pricing.
Not included:
•Original cost of our now adult dogs as puppies (some being more expensive due to champion bloodlines and pedigrees).
•the costs associated with raising those to adult breeding ages
•the costs to register our dogs and their litters with national registries such as APRI, AKC, ACA, and CKC
•possibly progesterone testing
•possibly stud fees
•possibly a c-section
•ultrasound to confirm pregnancy
•xray to count and ensure that puppies can pass through the pelvic opening without (hopefully) any issues. Dental issues.
•the closet/cabinets full of medications, syringes, needles, IV fluids, IV lines and more
•vet fees associated with raising the dogs
•vet fees for the puppies
•microchips
•laundry soap
•the groomer, or grooming supplies for at home
•flea, tick and heartworm preventives because healthy parents help make healthy puppies
Things that aren't monetarily tracked:
•the hours of staying up with our mommas to help deliver puppies
•the countless hours raising the puppies
•the knowledge and knowhow of issues to look for in delivery, whelping and the puppies themselves (ex. When to go in for a c-section, when to assist, when to perform cpr on a puppy, how to suction lungs after birth, how to give shots, how to give sub cutaneous fluids, how to tune feed a puppy, how to bottle feed a puppy, how to work a puppy that has hypoglycemia, and more)
•hours spent talking to people interested in puppies
•hours spent drawing up contracts
•hours spent ensuring our health guarantees for your puppies are secure
•hours spent washing pads, towels and bedding
•hours spent washing bowls and crates
•hours spent barely sleeping while caring for these dogs and their puppies
•hours spent trying to get the best photos and edit them to post on social media/website
THIS is the difference between the puppies you're searching for.
THIS is the reasoning behind the costs associated with these puppies.
THIS is why we can't compete monetarily with the backyard breeders for $500.
