It’s unfortunate that I’m even making this post, but I have no choice…
Someone stole almost $50 worth of product from me. Here is what happened:
A new customer told me they wanted one of each of my products, I was thrilled! Not only was this helping my business, it was helping me pay some bills along the way…
I had the treats done in a day. The customer asked me to deliver, usually I do pickup only, but this was a new customer and I wanted to make a good impression.
I packaged up the treats nicely and placed them in a bag with an ice pack so they stayed fresh. I drove 30 minutes out of my way to deliver.
When I arrived, I placed the treats on the porch. The door to the house was open, I peeked my head around but didn’t see anyone, so I went on my way.
I messaged the customer and told them I dropped off the treats and to pay me when they can through Venmo. They immediately read the message and didn’t respond.
Fast forward to the next day, I message them asking them when they were going to send the payment.
They then replied saying that because the door was open and I didn’t say anything to them, the treats were left outside for a long time and that it wasn’t “ideal.” Yet they read the message that it was delivered as soon as I left. They are refusing to pay for their order because I didn’t say anything through the doorway or go inside their house when their door was open.
For one, that makes me uncomfortable. Especially for my safety. I told them I will accept the loss to stay professional, but it takes one bad experience to ruin it for it all.
Unfortunately, I have to enforce payment before pick up/ delivery from now on instead of pay upon arrival. Im a very understanding person and will do anything for anyone, but unfortunately I was played the wrong cards and I cannot suffer from it happening again.
I hope you all understand. 🙏
Thank you for supporting me and my small business. 🫶
