This Stray Center is Permanently Closed. All Strays found in Emmet County must be taken to Little Traverse Bay Humane Society.

Dear Emmet County Community,
It is with a heavy heart that we announce that as of January 1, 2026, we will no longer be housing the Emmet County Stray Center. Our bid with the county was originally rejected. It was then made evident to us that the county wanted to go in a different direction.
I want to sincerely thank all the staff at Bay Area Pet Resort, current and past, for everything they have done. Over the many years, the staff has, literally, put their love, blood, sweat, tears, personal time and funds into helping the stray animals.
We want to thank everyone who has helped and contributed to the efforts of helping the stray pets in our county.
We wish only positivity and the best to Little Traverse Bay Humane Society in the their new endeavors with the Emmet County Stray Contract.
Please note, we will still operate as Emmet County Stray Center through December 2025. Come January 1, 2026 please refer stray animals from Emmet County to Little Traverse Bay Humane Society.
