November pet of the month: Roadie 🦃🍂
Roadie was found and rescued from an industrial section of Los Angeles. The rescuer could tell immediately that Roadie was an unusual feral cat by his friendly and affectionate behavior. Because he was a rescue, he had to be quarantined away from other cats for 10 days so I volunteered to foster him. I soon fell in love. Days later, unbeknownst to me, Roadie stowed away under my car as I ran errands. After an excruciating 18 hours, I found him at 4:30am at a Del Taco where I had stopped to grab an ice tea. Once he was home again, I decided that I was going to adopt Roadie.
Roadie settled into life with three dogs like a champ. He enjoyed lounging in his cat tree, sleeping in the linen closet and eating dinner on the window ledge. But he especially enjoyed playing with his new fast friend, our french bull dog puppy, Beanie. The two of them would even fall asleep touching paws.
One evening Roadie was injured and suffered two broken femurs. We rushed him to nearest emergency clinic, 2 1/2 hours away, where he had surgery to repair both legs.
Unfortunately, the surgery on one leg was not successful and Roadie had to endure another surgery, this time at Central Animal Hospital under the fantastic care of Dr. Helms.
Roadie is half way through his confinement period and is healing well. We can't wait until he is able to run and play again. The care and skill of the staff at Central Animal Hospital is unparalleled. They have guided us through and very trying ordeal and we are forever grateful to them.
