PER MBI: The Mississippi Department of Public Safety (Official) is investigating an officer involved shooting involving Meridian Police Department. A deceased Meridian Police Officer and an unidentified deceased female were both found at the scene. This incident occurred on 51st Avenue, Thursday, June 9, 2022, in Meridian city limits.

The suspect, 31-year-old Dante Marquez Bender, is believed to be driving a 2004 Black Nissan Armada with a tag reading “IMANI.” Bender may be armed and dangerous, if you see him or come in contact with him, please call 911.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing their investigation, agents will share their findings with the local District Attorney’s Office.

UPDATE: Caleb has had some up and downs over the last week. Hopefully he can be removed off of the ventilator over the next couple of days. From the bottom of our heart THANK YOU ALL for the love and support for our brother.

K9 Ruka has responded to treatment and is doing well.

We humbly ask that everyone stop for a few seconds now and please say a prayer for Caleb Crabtree, K9 Ruka, and Caleb’s family. As many of you know, Caleb is one of our trainers at SSC as well as a LEO. Caleb has touched many handler’s and K9’s lives with his training and big heart. Caleb and K9 Ruka were involved in a severe wreck this evening and sustained significant injuries as a result. Caleb is currently in ICU, and we ask that you lift him up in your prayers as well as his family during this difficult time. K9 Ruka was also involved in the wreck and has sustained injury as well, so we ask that you say a prayer for this four legged hero also. We at SSC know that God is the ultimate physician, and we place these two whom we love so much in His healing hands.
