THANK YOU, COMMUNITY! OUR SHOE DRIVE WAS A BIG SUCCESS!

Just look at all those shoes! We are amazed and so grateful for everyone who helped make our Shoe Drive a success.

A very special thank you to Dave and Sheri Luett for storing all of these shoes and hauling them to the shelter for pickup. That was no small job, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

Thank you to the City of Perry for placing and removing the canisters at our drop-off sites around town, and to DMACC, Kans-R-Us, and Jacqueline Riekena for allowing shoe collection bins at their businesses.

Special thanks to the individuals who collected bags and bags of shoes on their own and also contributed to the cost of freight to complete our drive. Your extra effort made a real difference!

Thank you to everyone who cleaned out their closets and donated shoes. Whether you brought one pair or a whole bag full, every pair counted!

And thank you to everyone who shared our posts and helped spread the word. You helped us reach more people and complete this fundraiser.

On behalf of all the cats and dogs who benefit directly from this project, we thank you sincerely. Your kindness helps provide care for the animals in our shelter while they wait for their forever homes.

We are so lucky to have such a caring community. Thank you for walking alongside us!

🐾 MEET DOVER! 🐾
(Broken leg? Healed. Tail? Still wagging!) 💜

AGE: 9 months old
BREED: Shepherd mix
WEIGHT: 48 lbs. (and still growing!)

Dover’s story started out rough. He came to us as a young stray with a broken leg, which meant months of rest for a pup who just wanted to play. Through it all, he kept wagging his tail and trusting his caretakers. 🥹

The good news? 🎉 Dover is fully healed and cleared to run, play, and make up for lost time! Just look at that smile! 😄

He has a sleek, shiny coat of golden apricot, chocolate brown, and white, a happy tail, and trusting brown eyes. He’s happiest with his people and loves to cuddle and follow you from room to room. 👣

Dover’s bucket list:
🏃 Run, run, RUN!
🐶 Romp with friendly dogs
🦮 Walks with his special person
🧒 Play with older kids (his favorites!)
🏡 Find a forever family of his own

Dover loves everyone he meets. At 9 months, he’s the perfect age to learn commands, good manners, and the routine of a loving home with a family who will help him grow into a great companion.

MORE DETAILS:
🏡 This dog requires a fenced yard (he has lots of zoomies saved up!).
🛋️ This dog must live indoors.

All dogs and puppies at Raccoon River Pet Rescue (RRPR) have been spayed/neutered, have age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, and have been treated for fleas, ear mites, and parasites.
