IMPORTANT SCHEDULING UPDATE

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Little River Veterinary Clinic will be operating with limited doctor availability for the immediate future.

During this time, we will be unable to provide large animal services, including large animal emergency/on-call services.

We will also need to make changes to some previously scheduled small animal appointments. Our staff will begin contacting affected clients on Monday to reschedule appointments as necessary.

If you have an appointment scheduled first thing Monday morning, please call the clinic before traveling to your appointment to confirm that we are able to see you as scheduled.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these temporary scheduling changes. Thank you for your kindness and cooperation.

🐾 We're Seeing a Surge in Fleas! 🐾

If your pet isn't on flea prevention, now is the time to start!

Over the past few weeks, we've seen a noticeable increase in fleas on both dogs and cats. Warm temperatures combined with summer humidity create the perfect environment for fleas to thrive.

Here's why they're so difficult to get rid of:

🦟 Only about 5% of the flea population lives on your pet. The other 95% are in the environment as eggs, larvae, and pupae—in your yard, carpets, furniture, and bedding.

A single flea can lay up to 50 eggs per day, and those eggs quickly fall off your pet and into the environment. Before you know it, what started as a few fleas can become a full-blown infestation.

Even indoor pets are at risk! Fleas can hitch a ride inside on people, other pets, or wildlife visiting your yard.

The best defense is year-round flea prevention. Preventatives kill fleas before they have a chance to reproduce, protecting not only your pet but your home as well.

If you've noticed your pet scratching, biting at their skin, or if they're overdue for flea prevention, give us a call. We'd be happy to help you choose the best product for your pet and lifestyle.

Let's keep our pets comfortable and flea-free this season! 🐶🐱

🎆 The 4th of July is almost here! 🎆

If your dog becomes anxious during fireworks, we're here to help. There are several safe and effective options that may help make the holiday less stressful for both you and your pet.

📞 Give us a call before the holiday to discuss what options might be available for your dog.

Please note: Prescription medications can only be provided for current Little River Veterinary Clinic patients who are up to date on their annual examination. Because we are currently booking appointments into October, we are unable to schedule annual exams before the holiday. If your pet is not current on their exam, we will not be able to prescribe anti-anxiety medication for this year's fireworks.

Don't wait until the last minute—call us now so we can help your pet have a safe, calm, and comfortable Independence Day! 🇺🇸🐾

🚧 Road Construction Delays 🚧

We’ve had a large number of clients arriving late to appointments recently due to ongoing road construction, detours, and one-lane bridge traffic throughout the area.

If you're traveling from or through Dennysville, Pembroke, Perry, Charlotte, or Robbinston, please allow extra travel time and check current road conditions before leaving.

A helpful resource is:

Please remember that when appointments start late, it can create delays for everyone scheduled after you. We understand the road work is frustrating and often unavoidable, but planning a little extra time can help keep our schedule running smoothly for all patients and clients.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to seeing you! 🐾
