Richlyn Rovers wishes everyone a safe and happy Halloween! We'd like to remind everyone to "bee" careful with Halloween candy and your pets. While Halloween candy may be a treat for you, it's a trick for your pet. Many foods, such as chocolate, gum, and xylitol (a sweetener used in many foods) are hazardous to pets. Keep candy in high places away from your pet's reach to help ensure everyone has a howling & screeching good night! Happy Halloween! 👻🎃

Are you a federal employee who has been affected by the government shutdown? We want to help! We will be providing free pet supplies to help ensure pets stay with their families during this challenging time.

📍 Maryland SPCA, 3300 Falls Road
🗓️ Sunday, October 26th from 12-2PM

We will have:
🐾 Dog kibble
🐾 Crates (various sizes)
🐾 Cat trees and scratching posts
🐾 Cat litter
🐾 Grooming supplies (brushes, shampoo, etc.)
🐾 Miscellaneous pet supplies (leashes, collars, bowls, toys, etc.)

*No signup required, while supplies last. Must show valid federal ID or most recent paystub to be eligible.

September is National Service Dog Awareness month, which helps to honor the specialized work of service dogs, and to educate the public about the roles they play in the lives of people with disabilities.

Service dogs are uniquely task-trained to provide assistance to a person with a physical, mental, or developmental disability. Here are a few tips to interact respectfully around a service dog:

• Always assume the service dog is on duty, even when resting.
• Give them space so they may focus on their handler’s needs.
• Do not pet or touch the dog, which can distract them and may potentially put the handler in danger.
• Do not distract the dog by talking to it or making noises.
• Do not offer the dog food or treats.
