Please, please think twice before giving animals away for free.
While it may seem kind or convenient, āfree to a good homeā can put innocent animals in heartbreaking danger. Sadly, there are people who look for free pets with harmful intentions ā including using them as bait animals, neglecting them, abusing them, breeding them irresponsibly, or abandoning them once the novelty wears off.
Every animal deserves safety, commitment, and a family that is truly prepared to care for them for life. Charging an adoption fee, requiring references, and carefully screening adopters are not about making money ā they are about protecting vulnerable lives.
A small adoption fee helps ensure that the person adopting is serious, financially prepared, and willing to invest in the animalās wellbeing. Rescue groups have these processes in place because we have seen the tragic outcomes when animals fall into the wrong hands.
If you need to rehome a pet, please do it responsibly: ⢠Ask for a veterinary reference
⢠Require an adoption fee
⢠Meet in a safe public place or home setting
⢠Ask questions about the adopterās experience and plans for the pet
⢠Never rush the process just because you are desperate to place the animal
Animals are not disposable. They are living, feeling souls who depend on humans to keep them safe. Please help us spread awareness and encourage responsible rehoming practices. It could save a life. š¾ā¤ļø
