🐾 **Hot take (but important): Not all “bad behavior” in dogs is actually bad behavior.**
This comes up *all the time* in pet care—especially with new clients.
A lot of what people label as “stubborn,” “needy,” or even “aggressive” is often just a dog communicating something that’s being missed.
Here are a few common mislabels I see:
• “My dog is stubborn” → your dog may be confused or hasn’t been taught clearly
• “My dog is needy” → your dog might not feel secure or has inconsistent routines
• “My dog is aggressive” → your dog could be overwhelmed, fearful, or overstimulated
Dogs don’t act out just to be difficult—they respond to their environment, their past experiences, and how safe they feel.
🚩 **Here’s the controversial part:**
Sometimes the issue isn’t the dog—it’s the expectations placed on them.
Not every dog is social.
Not every dog wants constant stimulation.
Not every dog thrives in busy households, dog parks, or long absences.
And that’s okay.
As a pet care provider, my job isn’t to “fix” dogs—it’s to understand them, respect their limits, and keep their environment as low-stress and consistent as possible.
That’s why I keep my client list small. Every pet has different needs, and cookie-cutter care just doesn’t work.
If you’ve ever felt like your pet is being misunderstood, you’re not alone—and you’re not stuck. Sometimes small changes in routine, communication, or environment can make a huge difference.
