A huge thank you to Sam for coming out and leading our Dog Management Level 2 training. Your knowledge, expertise, and passion for helping us become better dog professionals are truly appreciated.

The Two-Month Adventure of Sunset… and the Journey Home of Ceci 🐾❤️

Just two months ago, one of our very first customers, Mike Severs, was out walking his dog, Onyx, when he spotted a dog that was clearly lost. Being the dog lover he is, Mike made it his mission to help.

He posted on social media, searched for the owner, no micro chip and when no one came forward, he made sure the dog received the veterinary care she needed. Since he found her on Sunset Boulevard, he named her Sunset.

Sunset quickly became a favorite—not just to Mike, but to our entire Hounds Town Pensacola family. As Mike continued fostering her, Sunset joined us for daycare, boarding, and plenty of playtime. Because Mike travels frequently, he hoped we could help find her forever home.

Our Senior Lead, Eva, took that mission to heart. She created signs, shared posts, spoke with potential adopters, and even helped showcase Sunset at a Blue Wahoos dog-friendly event wearing an “I’m Adoptable” vest. Eva’s dedication, leadership, and compassion were truly inspiring.

We had several interested families over the past two months, but nothing seemed quite right. Mike was getting closer and closer to making Sunset a permanent member of his family alongside Onyx.

Then yesterday, everything changed.

My phone rang, and I could hear the excitement in Mike’s voice before he even started talking.

“You’re not going to believe this story.”

While walking Onyx and Sunset, a car suddenly pulled over. A mother and her son jumped out and called out, “Ceci!”

Sunset immediately responded.

You see, Sunset’s real name was Ceci—short for Cookies and Cream.

The family had been searching for their beloved dog for TWO MONTHS. Flyers, social media posts, driving through neighborhoods—anything they could think of. Earlier that very day, the mother had picked up her son from school, and they decided to drive around one more neighborhood before heading home.

And somehow, against all odds, they spotted Ceci.

What happened next was the reunion every dog lover dreams about.

There are two things that make this story especially meaningful to us:

First, if Hounds Town Pensacola had never opened, Mike may never have become part of our family, and this incredible chain of events might never have happened.

Second, Eva’s commitment to helping Sunset find a home showed exactly what Hounds Town is all about—going above and beyond because we truly care.

This story has a happy ending for everyone involved: Mike, Onyx, Eva, our team, Ceci, and most importantly, the family who never gave up hope.

We’re so excited to share these photos from the two-month adventure that Sunset—now known once again as Ceci—enjoyed while waiting to find her way back home.
