Maple!!!! 💜💜💜

Me: Happy Friday, my Love. It’s been quite a week!
Maple: Tell me about it. It was Amazon Prime week, so I had TWICE as many trucks to bark at. For the same pay rate, I might add. We should talk about overtime pay regulations.
Me: I agree. You’re underpaid.
Maple: You could fix that.
Me: I’ll tell you what: I’ll send it up the chain. We’ll see what the people in the C suite have to say.
Maple: That’s you. YOU are the people.
Me: You have to understand I have a whole BOARD to appease.
Maple: And also my bennies.
Me: Yes…?
Maple: The puppies get individual Mommy dates.
Me: You get SO MUCH individual Mommy time.
Maple: I run errands with you. It’s hardly the same thing.
Me: You know what we should do? We should go on a cruise. Just the two of us.
Maple: A boat cruise or a Tom Cruise?
Me: Ugh. I can never follow those movies. A boat! On The Charles River! Tonight! For the sunset.
Maple: Really?
Me: Yes! Middle aged white ladies LOVE cruises.
Maple: I have some questions about the buffet.
Me: Shoot.
Maple: Is there a carving station? Or do they slice the meat and put it in chafing dishes? I prefer the carving in Real Time. Also you can give them directives…you know…like ‘Thicker slice! What do I look like? A greyhound?!’ and ‘The war’s over! Enough with the rationing! Keep slicing, Buddy! ’
Me: There’s no buffet.
Maple: No buffet? So we have to just eat what you can catch? Do they give us fishing rods or were we supposed to bring our own? You don’t have one in that bag do you?
Me: Just mints and a semi sharpened pencil and a rainbow Dash figurine
Maple: I have some questions about that last one, but I’ll put a pin in that. What are we going to do for food?
Me: We both already ate dinner, and this cruise is only 90 minutes.
Maple: Purple-thirty days?!
Me: Yes. Exactly.
Maple: Oh my dog, we’re gonna die in the Charles River!
Me: It could be worse. It could be the Hudson.

Maple: Please tell me we’re not going to do this again. I seriously haven’t got time for the pain.
Me: You shh. Okay…
Maple: I can’t wait to see how you’re going to explain this AGAIN
Me: I don’t like when you guys fight about who’s on my wallpaper,
Maple: That’s what you’re going with…? Really?
Me: …so this seemed like a good way to avoid conflict…
Annie: You could’ve put me AND Izzi on the wallpaper… a photo together….?
Me: Yes I suppose I could….
Maple: But she won’t…
Annie: You take so many more pictures of Maple than of us…
Me: That’s not true…
Maple: That’s completely true.
Annie: Give me your phone.
Maple: No.
Annie: Why? Because you don’t want me to see the 10,000 photos you took of Maple sitting next to Daddy…
Maple: It’s for my followers. You have to understand Mommy’s just giving the people what they want.
Me: Oh, Baby, I love you so much. Please don’t ever doubt that.
Annie: Look at your photo library! Maple Maple Maple, with a little bit of Daddy thrown in . But mostly Maple.
Me: I love you so much, Baby. Don’t ever doubt that for one second.
Annie: I love you too Mommy.
Maple: But I love you the most. It’s okay. You don’t have to say it back. She’s already going to need plenty of therapy. And Susan won’t see her. Conflict of interest and what not. So you know…start saving up probably.
