Met with Molly today and her owner. Here we are working on obedience through play. I always tell my clients that obedience has 2 parts: First, the dog has to understand what it is we are asking it to do. Second, the dog has to give up what it wants to do and listen to what we are asking it to do. Without that second part obedience training isn’t really obedience if the dog listens when it feels like it. Being able to call your dog off of something it wants whether it’s a toy, interacting with another dog or person, or anything else in the environment is when you truly know what kind of relationship you have with your dog.

This mornings session with Luna. Here we are working on teaching her the release que "yes" which is her terminal marker. By utlizing this marker, we are able to teach her a implied "stay" with the command she is in like the down command you see her doing in this video. Think of it like taking a screenshot of a moment your dog does something you wanted and them learning that thats exactly whats wanted and they are free to come get a reward.

Doing in home training sessions for my clients has been a privilege for me and so has clients coming to my home for their lessons. But this year we will now have a official location for us to meet. I want to give a big thank you for my supportive friends Bryan, his dad Chris and brother AJ for helping with the recent remodel. I want to also thank my current clients who have been patient with me as I was going through some challenges with getting open.

Atlas's owner sent me this video of him holding a down while he was strolling with his fraternity. Atlas was with me for 3 weeks months ago for a board and train. This is awesome to see a dog being able to remain calm in a exciting environment 😀
