Meet Jack, a young Jack Russell Terrier mix who was brought in as a stray and is now ready to bounce his way into someone’s life. True to his breed, Jack comes with all the pizzazz of an over-caffeinated teenager—full of energy, personality, and a healthy dose of stubborn charm.
Jack is loving and sweet, and while he can be well-behaved, he’s also willful in that classic Jack Russell way. He’ll thrive best with someone who understands the energy, consistency, and training these spirited little dogs need. The payoff? A clever, devoted, and endlessly entertaining companion who will keep you laughing and on your toes.
If you’re ready for adventure (and maybe a few zoomies), Jack is ready to be your sidekick.
Come meet Jack at MCSPCA Perkiomenville Shelter, 1059 Sweisford Rd, Perkiomenville, PA 18074. Kennel License #2863.

Here is your lobster you have been looking for

Looking for the perfect guest to bring to your Labor Day party? Forget the lobster on the grill—this one’s better on the couch! 🦞 Koba may be dressed like seafood, but he’s really just a lovable goof who prefers belly rubs to butter.

Koba is a big-hearted dog with a silly streak—he’ll proudly parade his toys around, do his happy hops when it’s mealtime, and then curl up beside you like the world’s coziest “catch.” He’s been waiting longer than most, and we’d love nothing more than to see him head home just in time for the holiday.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of snuggly couch potato and part-time stand-up comedian, allow us to reintroduce Koba.
He’s got the look (just check out those shades), the moves (wait until you see his happy little hippity-hops at mealtime), and the charm (he carries his toy around like it’s his most prized possession). Honestly, it’s hard not to smile when Koba’s around — he has that effect on people.
Koba is the last pup from our Dog Days of Summer event still waiting for a home, and while his friends have all packed their bags for new adventures, he’s still here patiently waiting for his turn. We think his lucky break is right around the corner.
So if you’ve been hoping to add some joy, laughter, and a whole lot of love to your life, Koba is ready to hop right in.

Allow us to introduce Annabelle!

This 8-month-old Boxer mix is sweet, silly, energetic, and ready to begin her life with a new family.

Annabelle is very friendly, eager to learn, and she would thrive with a family that will devote time, energy, and training. She adores people and may be able to live in a home with a male dog with proper introductions.

She arrived as a stray, so we do not have any information about her past.

Annabelle is waiting at our Conshohocken shelter- stop in TODAY to meet her!

A321872 “Annabelle” spayed female Boxer Mix 8 months old.

This guy needs a home. He has a bit of arthritis and the cement floor is very hard for this old guy. Peter is a cream puff. Let's get him a soft place to call home.

The Sneaky Grass That Every Pet Parent Needs to Know About!

Foxtail grass—aka Spear Grass, Wall Barley, or Mouse Barley—isn’t just a West Coast troublemaker anymore. It’s spread across nearly all of the U.S. and Canada, and it’s bad news for pets everywhere. These sneaky grasses have barbed, needle-like tips that love to hitch a ride on your adventurous fur kids (and even horses!). Once attached, they only move one way—deeper in—causing pain, infection, sometimes requiring surgery, and sometimes may cause death. So be vigilant with your fur kids!

Foxtails especially love hiding between toes, in ears, up noses (yikes!), and just about anywhere else. They do NOT dissolve or work themselves out, so check your pets after every outdoor romp: brush their coat, inspect ears, nose, eyes, underbellies, between toes, under collars, and yes—even the private bits!

Best tip? Avoid foxtail patches, keep your yard clear, and give your fur kids a thorough post-adventure once-over. Remember: a few minutes of detective work can save you a world of trouble, heartache (and vet bills).

The most dangerous type of foxtail for pets is not a single species but rather any grass with barbed, needle-like seed awns—these include several wild grasses commonly called "foxtails," "spear grass," "wall barley," and "mouse barley". The barbed awns are designed to move only forward, burrowing into a pet’s skin, nose, ears, eyes, or even lungs, where they can cause severe pain, infection, abscesses, and sometimes death if not removed promptly.

Foxtail grasses are found across much of the world, especially in North America (with the western U.S.—notably California—being a hotspot), but also throughout most of the U.S., Canada, and many other temperate regions globally. Their dangerous barbed seeds can harm pets wherever these grasses grow, making awareness and prevention important for pet owners worldwide.

You can download my FREE Foxtail poster on my blog. Share at dog parks and vet offices. Give to friends, family, neighbors and fellow pet parents: https://shop.redandhowling.com/blogs/news/the-sneaky-grass-that-every-pet-parent-needs-to-know-about

Stay safe and foxtail-free!

About Me

I cannot recall a time without a dog in my life. Some well-behaved and some unruly, but always my Best Buddy. It was my love of my Best Buddy Cody, a rescued Labrador Retriever, that led me to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer and to also advocate for homeless dogs. My goal is to help dogs learn manners and help humans to better communicate with their dogs. In this training process my hope is that you too will find Your Best Buddy!

“To the world you may be just one person, but to your dog you are his whole world.”

My classes are family-friendly, positive and effective. Together we can bring out the Best in Your Best Buddy!

I am passionate about understanding, managing and modifying the behavior of dogs using both science and ethics. By using positively-reinforced training methods we can increase good behavior in your dog and decrease the unruly behaviors. I will help you and Your Best Buddy to build great skills and confidence.
