There’s quite a science to c**t starting, not just doing a little groundwork and getting on, hoping for the best.

Some horses are bothered a lot by some or all of these elements. It sure pays to check it out and get them better - builds their confidence in the learning process and makes it safer for the rider.

Throwing a leg over for the first time. Have you done this before? It’s a pretty unique feeling.

While it has its risks, c**t starting doesn’t need to be particularly dangerous. With a solid understanding of horsemanship, you can prepare a young horse to know what’s expected of him and the answers to the questions before he’s exposed to all of it at once.

As a rider, you can also have quite a bit of confidence even on that first ride of what to expect and what the c**t is ready for.
