Okay but hear me out 😂

Imagine your puppy families bringing home puppies that have already been introduced to crates, have some bite inhibition, know how to follow food, have started leash foundations, have been exposed to all kinds of weird noises and surfaces, and have already figured out that humans are actually pretty cool.
Like imagine getting texts saying "he slept all night in his crate" instead of "this tiny demon has been screaming for 4 hours and I haven't showered in three days." 😂

That's honestly why I love Litter Boot Camp so much. Those first few weeks matter SO much, and not everybody has the time or desire to spend all day every day doing puppy stuff. Raising litters is already enough work.

Plus the families still get three weeks of virtual support because let's be real, nobody warns first-time owners about the velociraptor phase. 🤣

Sometimes pet sitting means throwing balls, sending goofy pictures, and spoiling everybody with treats.

Sometimes it means noticing that something just isn't right.

About a week ago, while doing drop-in visits, I noticed one of my sweet senior boys wasn't quite himself. Nothing dramatic. He just skipped dinner and seemed a little off. Not enough that most people would've thought twice, but enough that I knew I needed to make a phone call. After talking with his family, we decided getting him checked out was the right thing to do.

Unfortunately, the news wasn't what any of us wanted.

His family immediately paused their vacation and started making their way home so they could be with their boy. Until they arrived, he stayed with me where he was comfortable. The kids got to love on him, he got all the extra snuggles, and we even had movie night while we waited for Mom and Dad to get back at 2am.

The next day, his family was able to spend his final moments together. This isn't meant to be an advertisement or a sad post. Just a reminder that details matter.

A good pet sitter isn't just someone who fills food bowls and opens the back door. Sometimes it's noticing the little things. Sometimes it's making difficult phone calls. Sometimes it's loving somebody else's dog like your own until their family can get back to them.

Not every part of this job is fun. But every animal entrusted to me matters. Even on the hard days. You will forever have an impact on my heart.

Y'all always ask why I'm weird about puppies learning with each other 😂 This right here. Banana and Dracula are both enjoying buffalo ears (aka the good stuff) side by side. No drama, no stealing, no staring each other down, no "mine is better than yours" nonsense. A huge part of puppy raising isn't forcing dogs to share. It's teaching them they DON'T have to.

Everybody gets their own thing, everybody minds their business, and life is good. If one puppy starts thinking the other one has somehow won the lottery and has the better chew, they get redirected back to their own. Over time they learn that another dog having something valuable isn't a threat and that respecting boundaries is normal.

I want dogs that can exist peacefully around other dogs, not dogs that think every resource is a competition. Tiny dinosaurs in training. ❤️😂

When people ask why I love repeat clients, this is why.

This was Miranda's third stay with us, and at this point she doesn't even act like she's boarding. She just shows up, settles in, and carries on with life.

Her family has enough on their plate right now, so we're made sure one thing they don't have to worry about is their gal.

At this age I'm a lot less worried about obedience and a lot more worried about confidence. New places, new smells, new people, new experiences. The commands can come later.

Also, whoever decided Golden Retriever puppies should look like this was clearly trying to make trainers lose all self-control.

One of the perks of our Litter Bootcamp program is helping breeders send puppies home set up for success. While most people are asleep, we're organizing records, educational materials, health information, supplements, and all the little details that make a difference for new puppy owners.

A lot goes into raising a well-rounded litter, and we love being able to take some of that workload off breeders' shoulders so they can focus on their dogs while we handle the chaos. 📂🐾

Because let's be honest... anyone can send a puppy home with a bag of food. We want families leaving with resources, guidance, and support.

Now if you'll excuse me, feral 1 AM Kenna is running on caffeine, bad decisions, and an unreasonable amount of office supplies. 🤣

Little snapshot from my day. 🐾

Today I met AJ and TK, two 5-month-old Great Pyrenees brothers living in an apartment complex.

Now before the keyboard warriors come for me... No, I probably wouldn't have recommended two male Great Pyrenees littermates in an apartment if they had come to me before getting them. 😂

But they already HAVE the dogs.

And that's where I think a lot of people get stuck.

It's easy to tell someone what they should've done 4 months ago. It's a lot harder to help them figure out what to do next.

The owners know they have challenges ahead. We had a very honest conversation about breed tendencies, size, energy levels, and the fact that we're already seeing signs of littermate syndrome developing.

For anyone unfamiliar, littermate syndrome is when puppies become so bonded to each other that they struggle to develop confidence, independence, and strong relationships with their humans. It can lead to separation issues, training setbacks, anxiety, and a whole laundry list of headaches down the road.

The good news? They're still young. So today's session was actually the first and last session these boys will do together.

From here on out, they train separately. Separate sessions. Separate outings. Separate adventures. Separate opportunities to learn how to be confident dogs without needing their brother attached at the hip.

And honestly, that's one of the things I love about dog training. Not every case walks in looking perfect. Not every owner got ideal advice before they got their dog. Sometimes people make decisions with their heart before they have all the information.

That doesn't mean they're bad owners. It means they need a plan.

So instead of talking about rehoming, we're talking about management. Instead of talking about everything that's wrong, we're talking about solutions. Instead of throwing in the towel, we're building better habits one step at a time.

The boys did great today, their owners were eager to learn, and I'm excited to see what they look like six months from now with consistency and some homework.

Also, for 5-month-old Great Pyrenees puppies in the middle of an apartment complex? They were pretty darn cute. ❤️
