We have imported our dogs from the top kennels in Europe and Russia whose pedigrees include multiple generations of international champions and junior champions. We said goodbye to sweet Elsa this week. These were taken the morning she left for her trek across the country with her new family. Pretty sure that she was “taking in” the Iowa sunrise for the last time. 🥰 She will be missed, but we have already received many photos and videos of her travel (she’s doing great!) and she is already loved by her new family! 🥰😍🥰

🐾 Last, but certainly not the least, we present Miss Orange, Red Rock Golden’s “Fearless” aka “Elsa”!
🐾 This puppy represents the full circle of our breeding program as she will be joining her sister, April, who is from our VERY first litter with Red Rock Golden Retrievers! 💕April will be an amazing teacher for sweet Elsa!
🐾 As we mentioned, we are having some extra time with Elsa while her family celebrates a wedding. She is already learning sit and come, and is having lots of car rides in preparation for her long drive home with her new family!

🐾 Introducing Miss Yellow as Red Rock Golden’s “Evermore” aka “Lacy”.
🐾 This lovely lady made a very long trek to California where she will be playing in the surf with her older sister, Summer, who is from our Apollo x Lotte 2022 litter. According to her new family, Summer has never been happier, as she has welcomed her new half-sister with open paws!
🐾 You will always be our sunshine, Lacy! 💛☀️💛

🐾 Presenting Miss Purple as Red Rock Golden’s “Wildest Dreams” aka “Indy”!
🐾 Oh did this girl make us laugh! She is full of s***k and spirit much like her older sister, Palmer, who was from our Apollo x Dolce litter in 2020.
🐾 This puppy is also staying in Iowa and joins her full sister who is now 3 years old!
🐾 Their new mom reports these two are already “besties”. 💕We are sure Palmer will be an excellent big sis and teacher for Indy! 🥰

🐾 As a continuation of our Golden Era theme, Miss Green is Red Rock Golden’s “Folklore” aka “Grace”!
🐾 Along with Miss Pink and Miss Purple, Grace will be staying in Iowa, not too far from us. But she will get to winter in a warmer climate, so she is a lucky puppy indeed!
🐾 Grace’s new family waited a long time for one of our puppies, and we were thrilled to finally be able to share this bundle of joy with them!

🐾 May I present Red Rock Golden’s “Enchanted” aka “Lottie”
🐾 As we mentioned previously, this is the end of our Golden Era, and while it is definitely a difficult decision to end our breeding program, we could not be more happy to end with the Fabulous Five!
🐾 3 of these girls went to families with dogs from our previous litters - one from each of our dams, Aspen, Lotte, and Dolce. So it feels like our lives have somewhat come full circle. 💕💕💕
🐾 It’s been a blessing to be able to work with the amazing families we have placed puppies with over the last 11 years, and this final round of families have been equally amazing!

🐾 And then there was one… Miss Orange is having an extended stay as her new family has a wedding happening! She was a little lost without her sisters but is adjusting well to receiving our FULL attention! She has decided that the fireplace mantle is nice and cool, and officially her new napping spot. We will also still be working with her on crate training and potty training. She has also discovered that the sofa is a wonderful place and enjoys watching The Voice on TV. 😂
🐾 We are also working on “sit”. She has very quickly figured out if we are in the food prep area, that if she comes over and sits, she gets a piece of kibble. We are now starting to incorporate “come” and then “sit” as the next progression.

🐾 Just a quick video of the puppies lapping up the formula from yesterday, and a quick smile from a happy puppy enjoying her bed and play area.
🐾 Last photo was of Miss Yellow who decided the crate was the best place to fall asleep after breakfast and playtime this morning. She was VERY interested in the crate yesterday and finally worked up the courage to enter. We will continue to create positive associations with the crate so it becomes a safe and happy environment for these pups to travel in and sleep.
🐾 We definitely recommend crate training to our adoptive families as they bring home these pups- even if your long-term intention is not to crate the dog at night. Crate training helps with potty training, allows puppies a safe place to retreat if they’re over-stimulated, and is a safe way to travel.

🐾 Sometimes you’re just hanging on for life on Monday mornings!
🐾 Yes, we are still in the weaning phase, which means Dolce does the morning feeding. These girls are doing really well lapping up puppy formula, but they still LOVE their mama best! Not all mother dogs will allow puppies to nurse this long, especially since they have sharp little teeth now, but Dolce still wants to let them nurse. We have the puppies drink formula first, and then let Dolce feed them, which should make them less aggressive and also help to decrease Dolce’s milk supply. We will continue to cut out Dolce’s feedings over the next few days. We have expanded the amount of time between meals to 4 hours, and the puppies have play time and nap in their new expanded play area, in between. 🥰

Red Rock Goldens followers, we want to extend the ability for you to follow us on Red_Rock_Golden_Retrievers on Instagram. It’s a bit easier for us to post videos of our puppies on Instagram, so that is our preferred method at this time. Some of our photos and videos have been posting to this page, but not all of them! We are not exactly sure why?!?! 😂

🐾 Dolce gave birth to 5 healthy girls on September 7 with Apollo as the sire. We have decided this will be our final litter of puppies in our breeding program as all of our dogs are “aging out” and our human family is transitioning to becoming “empty-nesters” in a few months.

🐾 While this is a bittersweet moment in time for us, we are grateful for all the wonderful families and friends we have been able to provide puppies for over the last decade+. It’s been such a blessing for us to know that these puppies have gone to wonderful families and we love and appreciate all of our Red Rock Golden’s extended family.

🐾 These puppies are all spoken for and will joining new and existing members of our extended family. 🐾🫶🐾🫶

🐾 I love all puppy ages, but there’s something special about that 4-6 weeks old age where the puppies recognize you as a human they trust and want your attention. 🥰
🐾 We have laughed that these puppies are DEFINITELY chips off the old blocks as they definitely want to be pet/scratched like mama Dolce and daddy, Apollo. Anytime we are around, they come to the edge of the whelping box to make sure we give them the attention they deserve!
🐾 Dolce did let us know last night that she did NOT want to sleep in the puppy room. Apparently, she knew the puppies were sleeping through the night and dutifully woke up at 5:45am this morning to feed them. The humans were a little tired, but the puppies woke up instantly and nursed like champs this morning. I always think that mother dogs should be the model for human mothers-to-be. I would have slept a lot more if I had followed our dams’ parenting skills when our own children were babies! 😂
