Please keep your pet’s Rabies vaccine current!
A rabid raccoon found on Friendship Church Road in Brooks has tested positive for rabies. It attacked dogs on May 15, and authorities are urging residents to make sure pets are up-to-date on rabies vaccinations.
Both the Fayette County ordinance and Georgia law require annual rabies shots for dogs and cats. While rabies is rare, it does occur in local wildlife, so please stay alert. If you see an animal acting strangely — disoriented, drooling, or aggressive — contact Fayette County Animal Control.
Rabies vaccines are available through any licensed veterinarian. For more info on living safely alongside wildlife, visit the Georgia DNR: https://gadnr.org/
