Two sweet kitties find a new home:
We received a call from a concerned man whose daughter was rushed to the hospital and could no longer take care of her cats. They were left alone a day before a major storm. We asked the man to get them before the storm and bring them to our vet where they would be vetted and safe and he did! Mango and Fee are very bonded to each other so we were happy to rehome them together in a new stable place a few days after their surrender. They are happy together again.

More rescues during the pandemic:
Sara Beth was rescued years ago in Revere during a snow storm. She was in a terrible condition but we brought her back to health after a lot of care.
Once recovered she found a home in New Hampshire where she lived for ten years. Unfortunately, her owner died and someone let her out to wander. Neighbors found her and she was surrendered to a rescuer. Animal umbrella learned what had happened and requested that she be returned to us. She was rehomed and she now lives a happy life in her new home. It is true that cats have 9 lives!! Here is the sweetheart in her new home!

Animal Umbrella has continued rescuing abandoned cats during the pandemic!
Bella was relocated from home to home because she was spraying. At 13, she had limited chances to find a home due to this problem. However, we took her to our veterinarian, Dr. Simonelli, who determined that she had never been spayed and that when she would be in heat, she would spray. Bella was successfully spayed and found a new home where she is thriving!
Happy Ending!
A Revere man found an abandoned cat but could not keep him. He told us he noticed a minor wound on its shoulder. If he had been released in the street again, he would have been an easy prey for predators smelling his blood. So we took him to our vet who treated him and placed him on Rabies Quarantine.
After Rune was off his quarantine, he was adopted by a Medford family who had adopted another cat from us before and wanted a companion for him. Rune always craved a lot of attention and now he's finally getting it from the family who loves him. Thank you!

Caring for a Stray Helps Every Day!
We just learned of a sweet story that made our day. One of our wonderful supporters gives us a donation in honor of his brother each holiday season and just told us. His brother is a cat lover and has proved his caring nature. A cat who he knew was abandoned showed up at his house, so he fed it. Eventually he was able to let it into his house and let it eat there, but it wouldn't stay with anyone else in the room and would panic and want to be let out. So when John came home late after his music gig, and the cat was waiting to be fed, he let it in, gave it food, and left it to be safe for the night, while he went and slept in his car so the cat could be there. Long story short, eventually the cat adapted and is now a proud part of the family with their other two cats. Lucky that someone cared so much for "Ginge", pictured here. One cat's life has been saved. We can each make a difference. Thank you John!

Animal Umbrella was founded in 1985 and incorporated as a non-profit in 1986. Our shelter first opened 1995 in Lynn and moved to Revere in 2003. This year (2017) we moved to Peabody. (Moves required by landlords “re-purposing” the spaces we were in.)
We are focused on rescuing, restoring to health, and re-homing abandoned cats. And we take even the most difficult cats, or those in dangerous situations, and keep them until they are ready to be adopted, as we are strictly no kill, or they live out their lives in our sanctuary.
Cats Lives Matter.
