The x-ray on the left is of a foxtail tract that was injected with contrast medium to show just how far a foxtail can travel. The lesion between the toes of the foot on the bottom right is how these tracts will look to the naked eye. This is a great example of just how far foxtails can migrate in tissues. I tell customers to brush with a slicker brush until you can't heat a scritchy crunchy sound. That sound means the coat is tangled. Here's a great example of it. Turn up the volume and listen for the quiet at the end.

Groomer's can't always demat your dog. I groomed Tater Tot with a fairly short blade. Because I haven't been brushing him, so a lot of mats formed right at the skin. This video is after his bath and blow dry shows all the areas that the blade went up and over instead of under the mat. I'm fortunate that his coat is whirey textured so they blow up well and I can go over him again and get underneath it. Some coats you can't get blown out and the groomer has no choice except to clip very short.
