Hi! It's Poppy! Training alumni and current staycation guest!

Monique says trying new things and pushing through those moments when I'm feeling a little hesitant helps build my confidence!

So when we caught a little break in the rain, guess what? I went climbing!

I'm learning that just because something looks unfamiliar or a little intimidating doesn't mean I can't do it!

Every little challenge I overcome helps me become a more confident dog.

Small victories build big confidence!

GRADUATION DAY FOR BOARD & TRAIN RIPP!

Today, handsome Ripp graduated from his Board & Train program, but one of the most important parts of his training happens right here… TRAINING THE HUMANS!

Over the past few weeks, Ripp has been building confidence, learning impulse control, developing better leash manners, and understanding what is expected of him.

But here's something I always emphasize: Training the dog is only half the equation!

One of my biggest goals is empowering my clients with the skills, knowledge, and information they need to build a better relationship with their dog.

It's about understanding behavior, communicating clearly, setting expectations, and developing the confidence to guide their dog through everyday life.

Graduation is where we bridge the gap between what the dog has learned during training and how those skills translate into life at home.

Through hands-on guidance and continued support, I help owners take what their dog has learned and make it part of their everyday routine.

Because my goal isn't simply to send home a better-trained dog. It's to send home a dog and owner who understand each other better and have the tools to succeed together.

The training doesn't end at graduation. It's where the next chapter begins!

GRADUATION DAY FOR BOARD & TRAIN RIPP!

Today, handsome Ripp graduated from his Board & Train program, but one of the most important parts of his training happens right here… TRAINING THE HUMANS!

Board & Train Ripp graduates TOMORROW!

At just 8 months old, this handsome Doberman has been working hard on building confidence, impulse control, leash manners, and learning to look to me for guidance.

From a busy little puppy learning how to learn, to a young dog developing confidence and a better understanding of what's expected of him, Ripp has come a long way!

Outings like Lowe's are a great opportunity to put that training to work around real-life distractions.

Tomorrow, it's time to pass the leash back to his humans! The foundation has been built, and now the next chapter begins.

🐾 STOP TEACHING YOUR PUPPY TO RUN FROM YOU! 🐾

That cute little game where you chase your puppy around the yard while they run away, thinking it's the greatest game ever?

You might be creating a problem you'll regret later!

If your puppy grows up believing that running away from you is a fun game, don't be surprised when teaching a reliable recall becomes a challenge.

Dogs learn through repetition, and every interaction is teaching them something, whether you realize it or not.

A dog without a reliable recall isn't just frustrating. It can be dangerous, even life-threatening.

Think about your dog running toward a busy road, chasing wildlife, or getting loose in an unfamiliar environment. Those are NOT the moments you want your dog thinking it's time for a game of chase!

Instead, teach your puppy that coming TO you is rewarding! Make yourself engaging, encourage them to chase YOU, reward their return, and build that connection early.

You can absolutely play chase games with your puppy. Just make sure you're teaching them to run toward you, not away from you!

The habits you create today become the behaviors you live with tomorrow.

🐾 SOMETIMES THE BEST SOCIALIZATION IS DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! 🐾

Staycation guest Poppy can be a little defensive around other dogs, so today we're working on something simple but incredibly valuable… just CHILLIN'!

And who better to practice with than Tiny, who is anything BUT tiny! 😂

No forced interactions, no pressure to make friends, and no need to engage. Just learning to coexist calmly in each other's presence.

Not every dog needs to play with other dogs. Sometimes learning to simply share space peacefully is the biggest accomplishment.

Calm coexistence builds confidence, trust, and neutrality. That's what we're working toward! ❤️🐾

🐾 DINNER IS SERVED… BUT NOT FOR RIPP!

At just 8 months old, Board & Train Ripp is learning that not everything happening around him requires his participation!

Tonight's lesson? Holding his place while I enjoy my dinner!

No begging, no hovering, no getting up every time I move. Just learning to relax, practice patience, and understand that doing absolutely nothing is sometimes the hardest job of all!

Impulse control isn't just about obedience. It's about teaching a dog how to settle and be comfortable doing nothing.

And Ripp? He's learning that the world doesn't revolve around him… even at dinnertime! 😂🐾

STAYCATION WITH A SIDE OF TRAINING! 🐾

Just because you've graduated doesn't mean the learning stops!

Training alumni Poppy is back with me for a little staycation, and we're brushing up on her distance down-stays!

It's one thing for a dog to hold a down when you're standing right beside them. It's another to maintain that position as you create distance!

This is where we build reliability, impulse control, and a calm, thinking dog.

Distance. Duration. Distractions. The three D's never go out of style!

And Poppy? She's showing us she's still got it! ❤️
