New kitten intake alert! All six kittens were caught and are safe in foster care. You can donate towards their care! Link in bio. The kittens have colds so they are receiving supportive care, and it’ll be a couple of weeks until they can get fixed.

We got a call from a friend about this little cat family in a neighborhood. The resident and a neighbor came to help catch the kittens, and we will make an appt to get mom and dad (and the other adults) fixed.

We are a tiny rescue group with no paid positions, and we can do so much more when people who ask for help are also willing to help. Watch the traps, transport to the vet appt. We can set it all up and teach you, and even pay for it - but having the neighborhood take on the actual footwork makes TNR and rescue go so much further. šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Here are some updated photos of the ā€œstorm drain kittens!ā€ They are hard to photograph when they never stay still 🤭

Weaning them from bottles is going very well - but also very messy! They use the litter box 99% of the time and are doing very well with that.

Hank is a big sweetheart boy ā¤ļø
Shakira is adventurous and miss independent 🄺
Britney, aka Clover, is a sweet sleepy girl. She must sleep on top of someone at all times šŸ˜‡
and little Madonna is small but mighty as hell. The QUEEN of zoomies and dominates play time. Although she’s the only one sleeping in all the pictures šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Still going to be a few weeks before this batch is old enough to be fixed and adoptable - we just love them! Such sweet little lives.

Drain Kittens Update - we got mom! She finally went into the trap and has been reunited with her babies. She has been to the vet and received care due to having a fever. Her milk has dried up so their foster is continuing to bottle feed the babies.

All four kittens are gaining weight and playing. Mama cat, now named Iggy, is starting to relax and settle in. She is starting to trust her foster and enjoys being petted - there’s been a lot of purring!

It’s going to be at least a month before these kittens are adoptable. They aren’t even a pound yet in weight- they’re small! But do follow along for kitten updates, and if you can contribute to their care and needs, we’d appreciate it.

Kitten season is in full swing, folks, and we have several fosters with bottle babies. This litter is what we’re calling ā€œthe drain kittensā€, because their mama gave birth to them in a storm drain here in Paso Robles.

We tried to get them out of there when they were first born, but the grate is concreted over on the edges and couldn’t be opened. During the rain last weekend, the babies got washed out of the drain and one of our rescuers was scrambling to find them and help them.

While we are working on trapping their mom, the babies are in excellent care with one of our fosters. She said, ā€œhere are some photos since they have been in my care. They are doing phenomenally! Drinking their bottles, taking all the kitten naps, going potty very consistently (with stimulation), weight slightly increasing, and they are very alert and getting stronger by the day. šŸ©·šŸ©·ā€

Make sure to swipe to the last photo to see their names and to see them with their doggy foster mom. So precious!

Thank you SO much to El Camino Vets for letting us bring these babies to you in a panic, and giving them excellent care.

This was a litter of five kittens, but sadly one kitten didn’t make it through the rain storm. We are working to spay and neuter the cats that are in this location, but it is a lot of work. If you’d like to help make a difference so that more kittens don’t have to go through this kind of tragedy, we accept volunteers for all kinds of tasks and duties, and we always need funds. Check our link in bio to donate! You can also call El Camino Vets in Atascadero to put funds on our account.

Update: she is adopted!

Dot is one of the snuggliest kitties ever. She comes running to greet you and will gently walk her paws up the front of you just to be close.
She’s under one year old, so she’s still very much a kitten—playful, talkative, and full of energy.
Dot co-exists well with the other cats in her foster home. She’s fine with other cats but doesn’t really need them—she much prefers people. If adopted into a home without other pets, she would do best with someone who is around most of the time, as she craves companionship and doesn’t like being alone for long periods.
She is house trained, well behaved, and has been raised as an indoor kitty. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and is healthy. She’s ready for her forever home.
Adoption fee: $150 catrescue

Peanut was a feral kitten in Santa Maria when Monique trapped her and took her in to foster. Quiet talking and gentle petting helped Peanut see that humans weren’t as terrifying as she thought.

Peanut then went to Liz to work on socialization. It took some time, but she got more comfortable.

Then she was adopted by people who understood that this kitten needed time and patience to know she was home. She was given those things and allowed to integrate at her own pace. She was also given the adorable name ā€œJem.ā€ She has other kitties in the house to be her friends. It took her one month to feel safe with her new family.

From her owner yesterday: Jem sought out pets for the first time this morning. She’s an absolute doll. She loves playing with her toys and brothers.

Patience is one of the most important values when adopting a new pet. It may take some time, but they get there!
