With rising temperatures, your pets are at serious risk of heat stroke — a life-threatening emergency.
🚨 Signs to watch for:
🐶 Excessive panting
🐱 Drooling
🚫 Weakness or collapse
💥 Vomiting or diarrhea
🔥 Bright red or pale gums
❗ Seizures or unresponsiveness
💧 Prevent it:
✔️ Never leave pets in the car
✔️ Provide shade & fresh water
✔️ Avoid walks during peak heat (10am–4pm)
✔️ Watch brachycephalic breeds closely (pugs, bulldogs, etc.)

🎉🎂 Happy Birthday to the one and only Dr. Virgen! 🎂🎉 and OUR NEWEST MEDICAL DIRECTOR!
Since joining Foothill in June 2021, Dr. Virgen has brought so much heart, dedication, and positivity to our hospital. Whether she’s treating patients, chatting about the latest Kdrama, or sharing a love for tacos and chilaquiles — we’re always grateful to have her on the team! 🌮❤️
🎬 Her favorite movie? Minions! (Yes, she’s one of those people who laughs every time they say “bananaaa” 🍌)
📺 Big fan of Kdramas — she’s always got a new one to recommend!
⚽ She loves watching soccer, and probably has better game commentary than the actual announcers!
📚 Dr. Virgen is a proud Harry Potter re-reader (currently on another magical journey through the books) and loves fantasy novels in general!
🏃‍♀️ When she’s not working, you’ll find her running, reading, or hanging out with her adorable rescues Botas and Chiquitina — both once-feral kitties she gave a forever home to 🐾
She’s traveled to over 12 states, has a hidden talent of being double-jointed (seriously, it’s wild), and feeds feral cats like the real-life hero she is!

Karen’s journey with VCA Foothill started back in 2017 as a CSR, and just six months later, she took the leap into the world of vet med ✨💪 She passed her VTNE and officially became an RVT in 2019 🐾💉 After a brief adventure away, she returned to Foothill and has been absolutely crushing it as our Lead RVT this past year 🙌
When she’s not leading the charge in treatment or mentoring the team, Karen’s spirit animal is a Koala or Sloth — because who doesn’t want to chill and eat all day looking cute and relaxed? 🐨🦥
🎬 She’s a total movie buff who lives on repeat mode — faves include Harry Potter, 10 Things I Hate About You, Love & Basketball, Clueless, and Legally Blonde
🎨 Hidden talents? Karen can draw, paint, and is leveling up her balloon décor game!

🎉🎂 Happy Birthday to our lovely CSR Sarah! 🎂🎉
Even though she’s currently out on maternity leave soaking up all the newborn cuddles (except for the sleep 😅), we couldn’t let the day go by without sending her some serious birthday love! 💕👶✨
Sarah joined the Foothill family in December 2023 and has been such a wonderful part of the team since day one 🦉💚 Her warm energy, kind heart, and amazing spirit always shine through.
🎥 Her favorite movie? Never Been Kissed — a total classic!
🌶 Favorite food? Her dad’s homemade chilaquiles (yum!).
🍕 Weirdest pregnancy craving? Pepperoni pizza topped with chow mein… yup, you read that right 😅
💙 Outside of work, Sarah is all about spending quality time with her boys, going to festivals, laughing it up at comedy shows, and soaking in nature — whether she’s hiking, camping, or just chilling at the park with music and sunshine 🌳🎶☀️

Dr. Ta has been part of the VCA Foothill family since around 2018, bringing expertise and care to our patients while also fueling a passion for adventure! 🌿🏔️ When not in the clinic, you can find Dr. Ta hiking, traveling the world, and enjoying the great outdoors. 🌎🚗

Fun facts? Their spirit animal is a turtle 🐢, they once ate roast duck brains (braver than most of us 😅), and they’ve got some hidden vocal talent—singing! 🎤🎶

Even though Dr. Ta is currently off exploring the world, they’ll always be part of our VCA family! Safe travels, and we can’t wait to hear about your adventures when you’re back! 💙

Jacky has been part of the VCA family for 3 years, starting as a VA and continuing to grow in the field with goals of becoming an RVT! 🩺🐾 We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see you achieve your dreams!

Since starting in 1991, Oscar has been one the best people to join our team, growing from kennel staff to our incredible kennel supervisor. With decades of dedication, he’s not just the best at what he does—he’s the heart of the kennel!
When he’s not caring for our patients, you can find him training dogs (including his beloved Lobo 🐺), spending time with family, or showing off his artistic talents. Whether he’s sketching, creating metal jewelry, or watching a good boxing or UFC match—he does it all! And let’s not forget, he’s even adventurous enough to have tried rattlesnake and alligator! 🐍🐊

From starting as a CSR in May 2022 to becoming a rock star Vet Assistant and Pharmacy Tech, Ashley has done it all! She’s the definition of well-rounded, bringing dedication, energy, and a Golden Retriever-level of enthusiasm to everything she does.
When she’s not helping patients, you can find her raving, making bracelets, building Legos, or enjoying a trip to Disneyland. Her love for KBBQ and tempura sushi is unmatched, and she’s even brave enough to try pig’s feet and tacos de cabeza! When it’s time to unwind, you’ll catch her rewatching Gilmore Girls, Grey’s Anatomy, or Jersey Shore.

From starting in 2015 as a kennel assistant to becoming one of the best veterinary assistants we could ask for, Justin has been a cornerstone of our team. His journey from kennel to night man to VA has been nothing short of incredible!
A true sci-fi and Lord of the Rings fan, he’s always ready with a great book in hand and the best snacks to share. Standing tall at exactly 5’10”, he once ruled the football and baseball fields in high school—now he dominates with his skills and quick wit at work.
Beyond his talents, Justin is one of the kindest and funniest people around. Need a laugh? He’s got you. Feeling cold? He’s even been known to lend out his sweater.
Justin, we appreciate you more than words can say! Wishing you a birthday as awesome as you are! 🎂🎈
