Humane Society of Parkersburg The Humane Society of Parkersburg is a private, non-profit open admission animal shelter serving Wood County, WV.

As Parkersburg and Wood County's only private, non-profit animal agency that also is open admissions, HSOP chooses to accept any and all animals in need. Through adoptions, education programs and spay/neuter efforts, HSOP offers proactive solutions to the pet overpopulation crisis in our area. Donor support and special fundraising events enable HSOP to continue sheltering and providing care for th

ousands of needy, unwanted animals each year. We do not receive any state or federal funding from any entity, nor do we receive any funding from the Humane Society of the United States or the American Humane Association. A portion of our funding does come from Animal Control services contracts with Parkersburg, Vienna, Williamstown and Wood County.

We are starting the day with 0 kennels! 😢

We have 118 dogs in our care. We started the day with 1 dog kennel, which has just been filled with a stray dog in much need of our help.

If your dog is here as a stray, or if you’re missing your dogs, PLEASE call us or stop in. We want healthy dogs to be in their homes with their families!

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, now is the time! We are running a special for adult dogs! $75 for dogs 6 months and up that have already been altered.

Not ready to adopt but have space to temporarily welcome a dog into your home, please consider fostering! We supply you with everything you’ll need. Fosters are truly our hero’s!

We hope that we can make this Father’s Day a special one by offering an adoption special!

🐶 All adult dogs that are already altered will be $75

🐈 All adult cats that are already altered will be $15

HSOP is critically full of large dogs! If you’ve been thinking of adopting, now is the time! Come visit our shelter animals today from 10:30am-5pm!

Jafar here, just stopping by to remind you that there’s still time to take advantage of our $75 adoption fee for large dogs who are already altered! 😍

Jafar is is a 3 year old mixed breed who has been deemed one of our playgroup rockstar dogs! He gets along well with pretty much everyone including dogs and kids. He’s been to several events and loves meeting new people and spending time with his puppy pals!

The adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea meds and microchip!
