We are so incredibly happy and grateful to have our 💨Zoomie Zone💨 because it means we can give our dogs something truly lifesaving: the chance to just be dogs. 💛
Every single day, around 25–30 shelter dogs get the opportunity to join play groups, stretch their legs, make friends, and burn off that pent-up energy. This isn’t just fun (though there are plenty of zoomies!); it’s essential. Play groups reduce stress, improve behavior, and help dogs show their true personalities—making them more adoptable and giving them a better chance at finding their forever homes.
We’ve also recently added K9 grass to our play group yard, helping us run cleaner, more sanitary play sessions. This upgrade allows for better drainage and easier cleaning, which helps keep our dogs healthier and less susceptible to illness—just one more way we’re working to give them the best care possible.
We are beyond blessed to have a compassionate, dedicated staff who genuinely love what they do. They work hard to ensure each dog gets time outside, proper socialization, and enrichment every day. Their commitment makes all the difference.
Pictured below is our behavior specialist, Leah. Her passion shines through in everything she does—from studying canine behavior to running play groups and working on behavior modification. Her goal is simple but powerful: help every dog become the best, most adoptable version of themselves while making their stay here as enriching as possible.
At HSOP, we believe this work isn’t optional—it’s essential to animal welfare. And we are so thankful for the staff and volunteers who make it happen day in and day out.
Welcome to the HSOP Zoomie Zone! 🐾
