Just wanted to give everyone a friendly heads up, we’ve been seeing a much larger influx of ticks on dogs this season around Park City/Heber.
Even if your pup mainly stays in the yard or on local trails, it’s still a good idea to do regular tick checks after hikes, walks, camping trips, or time in tall grass/brush.
Common places ticks like to hide on dogs:
• Around and inside the ears
• Around the eyes/lips
• Under collars/harnesses
• Between the toes
• Armpits/groin area
• Around the tail/base of tail
• Under thick fur around the neck/chest
I’m not a vet, but I highly recommend talking with your veterinarian about tick preventative this season — especially with how active they’ve been lately.
